Winter is a-comin' in...
Wed Nov 30 2005

You in the Midwest and Eastern Seaboard can call me a wimp, but I'm c o l d !  I don't care what it is in Alaska or Montana or Indiana or Maine, or anywhere else, 50 degrees Fahrenheit in Sacramento is cold!!!  And wake-up temps in the low 40s to high 30s?

OK, so I'm a weenie, I admit it, but maybe it wouldn't feel so cold if the skies weren't so leaden.  No sunshine since--when?--well, several days.  Three?

And it's drizzly.

But hey! no snow.  At least not here.

****

On a more positive note, I'm having fun teaching a Mom and her 2 girls how to read Hebrew.  The girls are better than Mom.  Maybe my husband was right: maybe I should have been a teacher.  I'm enjoying this.

I still haven't called that volunteer number, but I will.  If I can tutor some kid who hates reading and show him how much fun it is, then I'll be happy as a kitten with a bowl of cream.  When I discovered what all those things on the page were, I was in heaven.  Reading has always been a joy for me.  Even dry textbooks.  If there's printing on the page, I'll read it.

Haven't had time to read any more in that book I mentioned yesterday, and probably won't have time tomorrow.  But I'll stick it in my purse, just in case.

Oh, yeah, I cleaned the litter box last night before I went to bed.  Had to throw KK out of the box a couple times.  He really isn't all that helpful.  And, as usual, he had to get in and play in the new, fresh litter.  What a weird  cat I have.  Putting the top on the box helps some, but KK manages to scratch so assiduously that he manages to get litter outside the box.  Not as much as he would if the box didn't have a top, but still I need to get the broom and dustpan out every day.  He's not supposed to do that!!

Tomorrow is Leisure League luncheon.  Looking forward to seeing friends I see once a month.

I'm also going to buy some knitting needles and see if I can learn to knit again. I have a crochet project going that just isn't working. I've taken it apart four times, so maybe it needs to be knitted.  That'll be five times start a project that should have been completed a month ago!

I think I've finally found a way to keep the cats from using my antique, needle pointed lady chair as a scratching post.  I put a plastic cover over it, and they haven't found a way to dislodge the cover yet.  And they have a perfectly good scratching post right there in the living room.  No two.  One is an upright and one is a stretcher on the floor.  Why my chair????

Ah, well, it's time to go to bed.

One more thing.  Sis and I are finally doing our 2-hour IM chat again.  That feels good.

Now, goodnight.

Shalom

Funny, Hamlet feels very protective of his litter box too. Every time I clean it out, he is in there poking his head in what I'm doing, like those clumps are very important treasures he wants to keep. Bizarro.

It's starting to blow out here this morning... I hope everything is secure in the yard, else it will be down the street soon!

I have to agree with you. Fifty is cold! Of course, my nickname with Bruce is sometimes ''Temperate Wuss'', but we won't go into that!

Supposed to snow here today, 3 to 6 inches. I'd be loving that, except that getting to the theater could be problematic. Isn't it beautiful, though?

And cats. Yours behave just like ours, except that Dougle wouldn't deign to use the litter box at all.

Well, this is long, but it's good to "see" you, so I'm just enjoying the heck out of commenting!

    Hugs,
    Ani

My cats always go wild for fresh litter, too. They all have to hop in as quickly as possible to make new "treasures" in the sand.

About your chair, I'm really glad you found a way to protect it from the clawing. I think that chair is beautiful.

Funny, but as I was reading your weather report the Kid emerged from his room and said, "What a horrible, drippy, gray day this is." You're both right! It's awful!

    Hugs,

p.s. the red in the rubble pile was most likely not put there by us, we're either using spraying cans that are 'international orange' or crayons that are orange :)

So you don't want to know that it is 29° already tonight, correct? ;o) Truth to tell, I don't really want to know that either.

You sound happy, and that is a wonderful thing!
