I divorced Microsoft. Tried to get Netscape. Took AOL temporarily until I could get ATT. (Please note the change of address at the bottom). I struggled and struggled and said some naughty words, but just couldn't get past a certain point. Finally in deperation, I called C. (who had volunteered her help with Netscape and AOL), and begged her to come help. She came by after work and showed me a bunch of other stuff I didn't know about. So now I'm back "communicado."
Now, for my five days in Southern California last week......
I mentioned that my granddaughter had arranged for limousine transportation to the airport, and that was just the beginning of my "queenly" vacation. Can you say "breakfast in bed"?
I spent a day at her (and her husband's) place of business. They do "architectural renderings" for contractors. See the pictures in the real estate section of the newspaper. Some of them are photos, some are watercolor renderings, and some are computer renderings. JBA does computer renderings now. They've totally given up the hand-painted renderings. I watched the techs do their job, and was totally fascinated. What computers do today is incredible!
Except for breakfast in bed, all other meals were taken at very posh restaurants where K & J are frequent customers, and the owner, the maitre d', and various waiters all come around and pay their respects. Am I impressed? I'm in the presence of royalty!
They have a new home that's still being furnished, it's that new. K bought a grand piano and started taking lessons. I asked her why, and she said "Because I want to," with a smile. Isn't that neat to be able to do something just because you want to? Well, they've earned every bit of pleasure that comes their way!
Then I went to my son and his wife's place in Orange County. I may have spoken of the grouch before, and a couple of you know what I'm talking about. He's a big marshmallow inside. Anyway...again, no one felt like cooking, so we ate out. My digestive system just isn't used to all that kind of food. Now I'm home four days and my "inners" are settling down.
The weather was perfect. In fact, I needed a sweater in the evenings. I was very happy to note that I missed some very hot days here in Sacramento. The temperature here is beginning to be more like summer, and I'm thinking I'd like to go back down south again until maybe November. Well, maybe October.
Banshee was very happy to have me home. My neighbor came in each evening and filled his food bowl and played with him a bit. Daughter stopped by once (or twice?) and played with him. But they weren't the people he wanted around. Even now, he still stays within sight of me. Separation anxiety? This is one vocal cat, and he let me know that he was not happy with my absence.
Ain't it great to be loved?
So, now I'm back in the communication mode, expect to read me from time to time. I enjoyed my vacation, but honestly, it's good to sleep in my own bed.
Shalom
