I watched clouds massing over the mountains east of here (Sierra Nevada) and figured there was probably the first snow of the season. I think I remember that a few of the ski runs opened in early November last year. It might happen again.
Later in the day I noticed clouds coming in from the ocean (west), then clouds north and south, too. Not heavy storm clouds, but it was like we were in the center of a bowl. As the hours passed, the clouds were piling up even higher and gaining a gray underside, and expanding westward to meet the incoming clouds from the ocean side.
I went to the pet store to get more food for my cats, and noticed that the clouds were getting a threatening look. Very dark, and as they continued their westward trek, I thought "Oh, oh. Looks like a Blue Norther!" You people in Texas know what I'm talking about.
I went by the school to pick up one of my girls, and we both thought we were going to have a storm. Later, when I went back to the school to get the other girl (this is a one-time thing picking them up separately), the teacher delayed dismissing the class, and the dark clouds were coming closer and the wind was kicking up and the temperature dropped noticeably. I just knew we were going to be caught in a downpour.
Much to my amazement, when I went out a couple hours later, the sky was .... CLEAR!
I guess the storm decided to kick up a fuss over the ocean. And I was hoping for a bit of wet. Imagine that after all the complaining I did last winter about the wet and gloom.

- From:Yetzirah (Legacy)On:Wed Oct 11 2006It rained just enough to get the sidewalk wet out here and the wind blew like crazy for about an hour. I looked on the weather web site and saw this little cell that was hanging around Sacramento. A little rogue storm. It didn't amount to much did it?
- From:Dustbunny3 (Legacy)On:Wed Oct 11 2006Feel blessed for weather man said mid 30 for low and guess what it was 25 this morning so the garden has HAD IT.
- From:Welshamethyst (Legacy)On:Wed Oct 11 2006Glad you missed the rain but I got positively poured on just after leaving my fire job to go clean upholstery and I SMELLED horrible. I was panicking about going into a clients house like that but when I looked at the work order I recognized the clients name and remembered that she has absolutely NO sense of smell (a symptom of some chronic thing she had) so I was cool!
- From:Dreamerbooks2003 (Legacy)On:Fri Oct 13 2006We were praying for a beautiful autumn day to let our John Boy go.. and yesterday was just that.. It was a glorious day.. at least weather wise..
I want to thank you and my other dd friends for your support.. It means much to me
I did speak.. I was the longest and.. I am not sure what all I said or didn't say..
Anyway.. now that part is over.. I weigh 500 tons.. I just can't move.. and tears keep coming.. I know I didn't grieve for many of the losses in my life.. so it's all coming out now.
Thanx Chaya for always being a wise woman in my corner.. You are loved
