Missy went to the beauty salon
Tue Sep 08 2009

Have you ever been cursed by a cat? A female Siamese? A very angry female Siamese?

Last night when I brought the carrier into the apartment, Missy investigated it--again--went inside as if she were going to spend the night.  This morning was a different story altogether! I put her in, and she squirmed around and right out. Then thought to evade any further contact with me or the carrier. I up-ended it so the opening was up, managed to trick her and gathered her in my arms, tightly, and sent her head first into the carrier.

That's when the name calling started, and the only time she wasn't yowling was when she had to take a breath.  The whole way to PetCo she was complaining. When I handed the carrier over to the groomer, she really cut loose.

I finally remembered to ask when she'd be ready for pick-up. Three hours.  Three hours?!! Oops! I have a luncheon date with a friend for 11:30, and Missy won't be ready for another hour after that. Oh, well, the only thing I can do is call her and suggest a later time. She wasn't answering her phone. Called again, still wasn't answering her phone.  Third time, she answered, and was perfectly OK with meeting me for lunch at 1:00.

Went back for Missy at noon, and if I thought she was strident before, I ain't heard nothin' yet!! When the groomer brought her from the visitor's lounge, Missy really cut loose with the invective.  However, she went quickly and muy cooperatively into the carrier, and not another sound out of her. Not even in the car coming home. Not even when I hauled her out of the car.  Not even when I put the carrier down and opened the latch.

But Banshee made for a safe hiding place the moment Missy came out of the carrier. Did he sense some vibes, maybe?

I told Missy how beautiful she was and how nice she smelled now. But she still glowered at me. When I came home from having lunch, Missy was asleep on my bed. She didn't acknowledge my presence, and didn't do so until after I'd logged off from chatting with my sister. I gave her a treat. Greenies, which she begs for.

So now, we're provisionally speaking again.

I had a great time catching up with my friend. We had to say goodbye for now, as her allergies were kicking in--we were eating outdoors on the patio. She will be spending the High Holy Days in Israel with her son and his family.  What a treat!

Brought home the larger half of the salad for later, but I'm still stuffed!! Very generous portions!!

That concludes my report for today.

Bless

Funny... I think I can hear the echos of her caterwauling!

Am sure Missy smells and looks great now. Can you not wash and groom her yourself? it's not difficult. But then again, it's my cats I'm talking about, not Missy. Glad to know you are on talking terms again, though.

Glad you had such a nice time with your friend. High Holy Days sound interesting. I've always wanted to visit Israel. My brothers do, too. Only I suspect they want to LIVE there.

As for your question in my diary entry, we've tried letting Chanel take care of another puppy but she bit the puppy and now we can't let her have any young animals in case she shows aggression again. We are so sad that she is so hurt by Coco's death. I think the only solution we have is to give her home care until she can learn to love and trust again.

    Much love,
    E.L.

I like it when you have enough leftover to bring home for dinner :)
Now Missy, you be nice to your mom.
Hope she's speaking to you today!

Very upbeat entry! It's been awhile since your post though . . . I hope all is still going well. You sound back to your old energetic self. Missy sounds very passive agressive. I think most cats are pretty good at that!

    Dear Chaya,

Re your query in my Diary: I have never been very diligent in studying my Dharma, but to the best of my knowledge, when we transfer the merit of a good deed, the merit goes entirely to the recipient. We then gain good karma from the transfer, because it is an act of selfless giving. I don't know what it's like quantitatively. I am sure it is not 100% for 100%, otherwise it would be like saying, "here's $10, and I expect $10 back too". Where's the sincerity in that? I do what I do because I want to give freely. I give it all to the recipient. I don't expect anything in return. I have everything that I'll ever need.

    Thanks for asking!
    Much love,
    E.L.

Yeah, I didn't think of it that way - sacrifices to keep the human race going! I only know that if men had babies, we would die out in the one generation!
I must keep trying to be kind to myself and do what I can...
Is Missy back in your arms again?
