More weather
Tue Apr 20 2010

The weather couldn't decide whether to be nice or nasty. So we got some of both. The day ended with a clear sky over me, but clouds lurking to the south. The mountains got probably another foot of snow, I would guess. Ski season may end up be a year-round sport.

Got my hair cut. Finally. What with one thing or another, I'm about three weeks overdue. My hair is curly, and when it grows too long it gets frizzy and totally unmanageable unless I want glue it down with gel and hair spray. And wear a hat. I prefer wash 'n' go.

Had a meeting with my rabbi today. Got some things settled between us, and I feel a whole lot more comfortable about end-of-life things. I came home with a box of matzot. A Big Box. Containing five regular size boxes. And a jar of gefilte fish. Matzah lasts forever. Keep me in mind when Passover comes next year. I'll have four boxes to share. The gefilte fish will be gone next week. I like gefilte fish, and it can be enjoyed all year long. I don't know why Rabbi gave the stuff to me, but I said thank you.

Had blood drawn today, and for once I don't have a huge hematoma. Doctor is out of town this week, so I'll be seeing his Physicians Assistant on Thursday. I wanted to say goodbye to him, but I guess I'll have to leave the message with his PA. Yes, I've a new doctor, a woman. I've been thinking about a change since my former doctor left the practice. She comes highly recommended by the hospitalist where I was last incarcerated, and one of her patients. The patient happened to be my roommate at the hospital. Praised her doctor to high heaven. How can you go wrong with recommendations like that? Appointment is 3 May, and I'll have to make the trip beforehand to reconnoiter. Sacramento has one-way streets, and I need to find which one-ways will get me there. And how long it takes. Don't want to be late for our first appointment, now do we?

Been going for a walk in the evenings. Hasn't made any difference in my sleeping. Is there ANYthing in this wide world that can make me sleep through the night. Or for at least six hours at a stretch??? Tried sleeping pills, but they just make me sleepy all the next day, too. *sigh*

Goodnight, all. My pillow calls.

Bless

The weather has been really odd around here. Late last week we were in the upper 80s which is unheard of for this time of year then we fell back into the upper 60s for a few days now we're into the mid-70s. It's just all over the place. I need to restain my deck but the temps are still falling into the 30s at night and oil based stain won't dry with it that cool. Guess I'll just have to wait a few weeks.

Sleep can be an elusive little bugger eh?

Haven't been doing so great myself these last few weeks in that department. I just give up and get up and do some things until I get sleepy again. So far it's working... sorta.

I figure it's why God invented naps.

Hope you like your new doctor!
