I got a call from Megan this morning asking me to bring her daughter back home.  "I miss her."  Now there's a shock!  Any time before 11pm.

Rena had a girlfriend come over for swimming today.  The pool is closed for cleaning.  Now that just isn't right, what with the temperatures in the triples.  I hope it won't take long, because I, even I, want to swim when the weather is hot.  However, I prefer swimming about sunset.  The sun isn't blazing, and the water is still warm.

I didn't feel like cooking, so I took the girls to Fresh Choice for dinner.  Sitting with two 14-year-olds is an education.  When I was 14, all I had on my mind was BOYS.  These girls range from philosophical to just plain silly, and nary a word about "that cute boy."  What has this generation come to????

Had a note pinned on my door when I got home.  From Gordon, Rena's shadow.  Had to tell him that she was home, and I didn't know when she'd be back, but I'd let him know.  He was disappointed, but her mother's wishes come before his.  Right?

It really hit me hard when I walked into Megan's house and saw the packing boxes and the packed boxes.  And the antique grandfather clock all wrapped up.  There was a bareness to the place.  All along I've been saying they're moving, but it really hit me this evening.  They really are moving.

I got to the gym this morning and saw that I'd forgotten my membership card.  So, mad dash back home (fortunately, it's only a couple blocks), grab the card, dash back to the gym.  After changing and showering, I got to the exercise only 15 minutes late.  I managed 45 minutes of exercise today, and maybe will make it for the full hour on Friday.

Little trouble with leg cramps, though.  Don't know if it's the water temperature (a little lower than I like) or the unaccustomed exercise, or a combination of both.  I have some quinine caps for leg cramps, and if it continues Friday, I guess I'll plan on medicating myself until I become inured to the coolish water and the exercise.

I really need to find some mesh pool slippers.  The tiles in the hallways are wet and slippery, and my balance isn't all it could be.  I thought about using my cane, but then, the cane would probably slip on the wet tiles.  So I huddle as close to the wall, avoiding the wet center, and support myself against the wall.  I've taken some bad spills without any broken bones, but there's always the first time.  Ironic if it happened in the gym.  Of all the places to have an accident! Tch!

Time for Banshee's treat, and he's reminded me a couple times already.  I think I'm about ready to head for bed, too.  Had my usual three hours of sleep last night, and a brief nap after coming home from the gym.  Not enough z's for this one.

Shalom

Oh goodness! This time of year I see lots of those pool slippers at our local Wal-Mart. We don't have much need for them (no pool - did you figure that out?) but they sure have a bunch. Good luck on finding yours, and I hope it's soon!

I am surprised you aren't sleeping better with all that much exercise..
I wonder if you could find the pool shoes at Walmart or if you'll have to go to a sporting goods place.. Do you have a Garts Sports near you?
They usually have a variety of items..
Anyway.. Glad you enjoyed your time with Rena.. So funny about the girls not talking about boys.. Maybe they were just censoring their talk around 'grama'? though I doubt it.. teens don't know how to censor themselves.. LOL
Have a good day.. sounds hot your way.. the temp is climbing here also..

    Good*day

    Dear Chaya,

Rena is such a thoughtful, kind and beautiful young lady -- who wouldn't miss her?

I was highly amused by your mature and sympathetic response to Gordon. I don't think an Asian parent or grandparent would have the same degree of patience and tolerance. We Asians are known to be courteous and respectful only to our senior citizens, not the juniors!

I hope the pool reopens soon, too. What a disappointment for the girls! All the same, I think the three of you had a lovely time at Fresh Choice. Just thinking of salads makes my mouth water. Jake is tops at making salads and pastas, so I'm lucky that way!

I don't recall being boy-crazy at 14. Cat-dog-and-horse crazy, yes, but boys are merely there to make sure someone takes bottom place at school. LOL.

Lots of Love to you, Banshee, Megan and Rena,

    Hugs & Love,
    E.L.
