My dear, darling, handsome, wonderful son sent me another gift from Harry & David. A gift specifically for Hanukkah. Shaped in the form of a Star of David.
There are eight boxes, numbered 1 through 8, one box for each night of the festival. Of course I peeked. But the first gift in Box #1, a pear, will be eaten on the first night--Friday. Box #2 is milk chocolate stars wrapped in blue cellophane. #3 is another pear, not quite ripe yet, but it will be by Sunday. #4, blue and white Jelly Bellies. #5 is gelt, chocolate coins wrapped in gold foil. #6, blue and white malt balls. #7, more chocolate stars wrapped in white foil. And #8, my very own dreidl.
When all boxes have been opened, and goodies consumed, the boxes can be kept and used for storing trinket and gewgaws.
Isn't that neat???
Don't I have a really neat son?
Shalom

- From:Calichef (Legacy)On:Tue Dec 12 2006I've met your son and I will be more than happy to confirm your assertion that he is, indeed, neat.
As Hanukkah bears down upon us, would you like to have guests bearing a menorah, candles and the makings for latkes and tuna patties come for a visit on either Monday or Tuesday, whichever is better for your schedule? :-D (So far, we are all healthy, too!)
Hugs,
~Cali - From:ImNotLisa (Legacy)On:Tue Dec 12 2006How sweet! That is a very nice gift! You do have a wonderful son. :o)

peg - From:ImNotLisa (Legacy)On:Fri Dec 15 2006RYN: I am making the scarf in acrylic (because I have it on hand in the color the intended recipient likes best). I'm using Caron Simply Soft yarn in a deep red with size 8 needles, so far the few rows I've completed are knitting up nicely and I don't think I'm going to have to block it at all (which is great since I'm using acrylic and can't really block it!).
- From:ImNotLisa (Legacy)On:Sat Dec 16 2006Chaya, I'd be honored to make a scarf for you if you'd let me, no charge at all. I'll use the same yarn as it's super nice, really soft, and find a good blue color for you (I don't think it comes in black/white variegated but could be wrong). The thought that you'd be happy to wear something I made for you is payment enough, and I get such joy out of making something for a good friend that I couldn't begin to put a price on it. Payment enough indeed. I'll keep you posted. Julie
- From:Waterspriteflying (Legacy)On:Sat Dec 16 2006What a wonderful gift, and what a wonderful son!
Short story on handedness: I didn't want to be like everybody else, so I switched right off the bat, in first grade. Oooh, my dad was not happy with me!
Hugs,

I saw your comment over on Dustbunny's page that you have a daughter north of Vancouver. If you have not heard from her yet, don't worry. Many folk are still without power. She may be a little cold around the edges though as the overnight temps have dropped into the thirties. Hope you hear from her soon. - From:Dustbunny3 (Legacy)On:Sun Dec 17 2006Yes you are all right telephone wise. But have pity on some 700K in Wash. still without Power, heat and a means to cook or save all the frozen stuff in Frig. Acouple have died using a BarQ in the HOUSE SAD
