It's soup time
Tue Sep 25 2007

September weather has been quirky, as usual, and I'm late with the sneezes. Just started today.  There's a certain smell in the air that proclaims Autumn Is Here!

The sky is blue, but not the clear, brilliant blue of Spring.  There are high, transparent clouds that give the sky that peculiar Autumn look.  The temperatures have been in the low 80s daytime, but low 50s nighttime.  Just perfect.

And it's time to start making soup.  Thick, hearty soup.  Lots of vegetables, especially potatoes, with garbanzos and barley thrown in for good measure.  And my favorite seasonings with lots of garlic.

To round out the meal: icy cold milk and hot cornbread just out of the oven.  Mmmmmmm!

I think I need to go grocery shopping!

Bless

I was just thinking the same exact thing the other day. What time is dinner???

I never would have thought of using garbanzos! I'll have to try them for a change.

    Dear Chaya,

You're making me verrry hungry, LOL! I love vegetable soup. My mom makes a wicked clear vegetable soup, just positively SOLID with potato, onion and carrot chunks. Soup you can bite into. Yum!!!

Garlic is one of nature's best antibiotics. I learned firsthand that it could clear up urinary tract infection.

Please get well soon. I don't want you to have the sneezes. Then you can't enjoy being outdoors.

Thank you for your kind comment to my latest entry. I hope to post pics of the Eco Kids Camp participants soon, then you can * meet * those wonderful children!

    Love,
    E.L.

It is a toss up!!! Fall has a lazy but way of sneaking up with colors and a smell all it's own. Spring is like waking from a long nap and the air is so full wonderfull fresh smell you can taste it. I LOVE them both for they bring a change we need.
I think our sense of Smell is more deeply imbedded for I can pickup long forgotten wonders
of going to the Barn in the dark with my Uncle
to feed and milk the cows. So many smells mixed in the air. In the cold winter nothing can compare to the WARM belly of a Cow and the fresh smell of warm milk. I still can taste and recall the pleasure like it was yesterday.

I'm making cream of zucchini soup today. I've been longing to get out the soup pot and the weather has finally changed to allow it.
There's nothing like a big pot of homemade soup and fresh baked bread to soothe the soul.
    I can't wait for dinner!
    Hugs, Tiggs

Boy, am I glad dinner is almost ready, after reading this! You're so right, too--pots of soup, and hot breads, are calling.

The face painting does tickle, and the I am treated to many little crinkled noses and suppressed giggles. I tell them it's my favorite part, getting to tickle kids all day, and they pay me for it!

The beautiful adult is unknown to me. She just walked up looking lovely and told me she wanted something pretty and delicate on her cheek.

    Enjoy the lovely weather!
