We met at a Sizzler's which is near to where Tracey's mom was working temporarily in Sacramento, and her hotel. When they arrived in the parking lot, I tried to get pictures, but they didn't turn out too well. Should have had sound, for then you could hear The Brat in full voice. She kept up her tantrum into the restaurant, and Gryffan had to take her out for a while. When they came back in she was all smiles.
I was so concerned about remembering my camera that I forgot to put her presents in the car. That turned out OK, because Tracey said she would bring DiDi to my place this morning. She took the presents out of the birthday bag, then went to the fountain and played with the rocks and the water.
We each placed our dinner order with the fellow at the cash register, then our meals were brought to our table. DiDi was busy with her father's French fries and dipping them in ketchup. The fries were quickly forgotten when Mama brought DiDi a plate with cupcake, ice cream, chocolate pudding, and a cup of juice--with a Straw ! No more tantrum after that. I got some pretty good pictures, before the batteries gave out, but haven't transferred them to the computer yet.
Y'all are going begin to think that I'm lying about her red hair and how cute she is, but I swear the cameras have it in for me. The old camera was eating the pictures, not even sending them to the memory card. So of course the batteries had to get low and the camera shut down.
So! When Tracey and DiDi arrived this morning, I had fresh batteries in the camera. Got some cute shots of her playing in the cats' drinking fountain, and trying to put the rocks where they were sure to plug the flow of water.
While we were waiting last night for Gryffan to transfer his stuff to my car, DiDi found a bit of water. Not a puddle, but a noticeable amount of water, and she was playing stomp in that less than a puddle of water. I had thought to provide her a real puddle when she came this morning, but the fountain turned out to be the main attraction. She still hasn't gotten the connection of birthday, birthday party, birthday presents. The fountain was what interested her. Maybe next year when she's a Big Girl of Three Years!
DiDi headed for my bedroom and startled Banshee. He was a gentleman and didn't hiss at her or even try to get away. Missy was firmly hidden I don't know where, but she didn't show a whisker until that-that-that-whatever-it-is-I-don't-like-it had been gone for several minutes. She'll challenge another cat, but DiDi is just too much for her.
Tracey invited me to come for New Year's, but I think I'll pass. I don't care to be on the road with the early celebrators, and I sure don't want to come home with the drunks and hung-over drunks. Maybe I could go on the Tuesday when everyone is back to work, and then come home Thursday, or maybe early Friday before candle lighting at 4:43 pm. Well, better leave on Thursday, early enough to get home before dark, I think. Four o'clock comes awfully early these winter days.
There's probably more I could write about, and I'll remember just as I'm dropping off to sleep. But for now, good night.
Bless
