Talk about last minute!!
Tue Apr 15 2008

I just got back from the post office after mailing my federal and state income tax returns. It's 3:54PM, 15 April.

I'm not in a hurry to file my federal return, as I have to pay. Not much, but some, and so I hold out as long as I can. This is the first time, though, that I've waited this long.  Don't have to pay the state, and probably don't need to file a return. But I do.

However, I can't find the state form.  I know I put it with the federal form, but Murphy or the Black Hole are at work again. So I got all the forms and stamps together and hustled to the PO to find the California forms.  Once I completed the state form, I found that there's no envelope for mailing the form back to the FTB.  A very nice young man standing next to me had just bought some envelopes and offered me one.  And I took it most gratefully. That saved me a trip back home and then back to the PO to mail the form. I had stamps and address label with me, but hadn't counted on no envelope.

So now it's my turn to do a good deed for someone.

And I'm square with Uncle for another year.

My Baby and her parents will be in Oklahoma City this time tomorrow.

Bless

You do like your cliffhangers, don't you? I don't like doing anything last minute. Anyway, we don't mail our tax forms in Malaysia. We do it through e-filing but there is a hardcopy option for those without access to the Internet.

I don't see why the FTB still sends you tax forms at your age. My parents stopped receiving theirs the year following their retirement.

That was a nice young man you met. It's a good idea to pay it forward. I always try to.

    Lots of Love,
    E.L.
