Bye-bye triple digits

Ah, relief! Pleasant weather for the coming week. Except. Air quality has been in the "unhealthy for sensitive groups," which includes me. One day last week I was miserable with runny nose, difficulty breathing. I took an antihistamine and dried up the nasal flood. Closed all the windows and turned on all the fans. I hate it when I have to close up. I like to have windows open. The cat prefers open windows, too, especially in the living room. Seems there's a lot of activity to keep him interested and entertained.

Friend has moved in across the way with her dog, and Baensidh enjoys watching Susie's activities. He's never had any contact with a dog before, and wasn't quite sure if that thing out there in the yard was worth a hiss and arched back, or if it was just another something for his entertainment. I think he's decided on the latter.

Friday was a bad day. Headache and blahs! Granddaughter was expected to spend the weekend, but I begged off. Just didn't feel up to taking her to the pool, and other activities that she enjoys. She's understanding.

Yesterday was almost a total loss as far as activity goes. It was "one of those days" when I couldn't wake up. Spent most of the day sleeping. Didn't make it to synagogue, but a couple friends came over in the afternoon. Brought some cholent, which was good. The one friend who is writing a novel left a few chapters for me to read, and came back later, early evening, and we talked about the progress of the story. It's a good story, progressing well, and I'm eagerly awaiting ensuing chapters.

Finally got around to watching some of the Olympics events. Love to watch the swimmers! Will have to keep the TV on so I know when the gymnastics will be on. It seems incredible to me what those gymnasts can do with their bodies. They seem to defy gravity! Beauty and grace in movement.

I watched women's and men's rowing earlier, and again marvelled at the beauty of the human body. For the first time I noticed that the oars alternate right and left side. Well, of course, I say to myself. If all the oars were on one side, they'd be going around in circles.

Basketball is on now. The Portuguese team is beating the socks off the US team. My theory is that the first team to score is usually the winner. We'll see how that plays out, as Portugal scored first. At this point, it appears that my theory is correct.

OK, now I'm going to go back to the TV and sort-of watch the basketball and work the Sunday crossword. The TV is on mute. I can't stand all the chatter from the commentators. I can SEE what's going on. Eventually, I'll get through the rest of the paper, but first things first.

Shalom

I'm glad to hear that you are feeling a little bit better. I'm enjoying the Olympics so far, too. I watched men's gymnastics last night. Wow, what those guys can do with a bit of rope and a pair of steel rings!

I love to watch the gymnastics too, I love the leotards from the Americans this time, they are gorgeous. Their strong bodies are amazing and I love to see them tumble and the high bars.

My daughter does gymnastics - imagine how proud I would be if she ever got that far...

Glad to hear you're getting some relief from the heat!! While we don't have a pollution problem, the pollen counts have been off of the chart so I, too, am keeping everything closed up. I still wake up every morning with my eyes swollen and gooey *sigh*.

Hope you get some energy back soon and don't get any more migraines!! I'll give you a ring early this week.

    Love & Hugs,
    Bobbi

    Dear Chaya,

Oh, you poor dear! I hope you get well soon. I wish you a speedy recovery so you can go on doing the things you enjoy most.

I too am on antihistamines. My sinus problem has gotten out out hand, and I had left it without medication for so long that I am 100% deaf in my right ear. I don't know how I allowed it to happen.

Yes, you have a very understanding granddaughter and I know she is hoping for your speedy recovery too. In the meantime, do get plenty of bed rest, drink lots of fluids and watch uplifting things on TV. Optimism helps. So does the Olympics.

Tee hee @ Baensidh and Susie! Now that is something I would love to see! It's good to have a cat young enough not to have learned how to fear dogs. When I considered whether to introduce Chloe to Murphy, I practiced barking at Chloe. The poor baby was so scared she climbed up on the windowsill and crouched there, looking at me with scared eyes. Poor baby!

Thank you for your wonderful kind words in all your comments to my entries, Chaya.

Take care & Get Well Soon!
    Love,
    E.L.

It's cooler on the farm but I bet towards Portland it is hot.
I'm ready for fall. Some of the trees have been showing colors since the middle of July.

I hope you continue to heal. I slept away hours yesterday, but I know my exhaustion is due to the anxiety of all the coming changes in my life. Thank you so much for your kind words and inspirations! EWBOK!

I'm glad you had a quiet weekend to recoup.

I have not been watching the Olympics. I'm just not into it this year for some reason. I always enjoy winter sports the most.

    Take care,
    Anne
