I started a pot of beans last night. Put them in my slow cooker set at low, to cook overnight. Sampled them about an hour ago. Need more cooking, but tasted good. I think I got just the right amount of seasoning.
I don't have to prepare a Sabbath meal today, as I'm going to a Shabbaton this evening, and food will be served. A Shabbaton is gathering of people for a celebration in addition to the usual Sabbath gathering. We'll be treated to observations of a couple well-known rabbis; there'll be singing and dancing; and food, as I mentioned already.
Then there'll be the regular Sabbath service tomorrow morning, and a meal afterward, as usual. The same rabbis will be with us for further observations and teachings. And more singing and dancing.
I once observed that there's always food when we get together for any reason. She responded, "Yes, there are no skinny Jews." Well, there are some, but I think they're genetically conditioned to skinny. Our cantor/rabbi is one of them.
Sister called last evening and related further news of the accident. Her left index finger was severely bruised, and she had a bruise on each knee. I expect she'll find a bruise on her shoulder or maybe her chest from the seat belt. She is extremely fortunate to come out of the accident without severe injuries. My heartfelt thanks to her guardian angel.
Poor thing, this is her first accident in 60? years of driving. She said, "I don't know what to do." She didn't know where her car was, but did know the name of the towing company. Her insurance agent should be taking care of all the things Sis doesn't know about. I'm very grateful that she's OK!!!
I suppose I could take a shower and get dressed, but maybe I'll finish reading the paper, then get ready to meet the world.
Bless

Let's hope we both clear up soon!

and I love them
Your sister sounds like she is still in shock.. worried about the car.. You are correct. the insurance will probably issue her a check as to the amount of her car and also allow her to get anything out of her car she wants..
This is what happened when my Mustang was totaled..
Was the other person given a ticket???
I am so glad she came out so unharmed - From:Parett (Legacy)On:Mon Mar 31 2008Thanks for the beans! I love them. TOOT,TOOT!
- From:CovertOps (Legacy)On:Tue Apr 01 2008Dear Chaya,
Well, I didn't get a Notifier e-mail, but that's okay, because here I am!
Beans would taste great with wholemeal bread, wouldn't they? Everything sounds delicious. LOL, I do know of a few skinny Jews, and I don't know how they got that way!
I am so happy and relieved that your sister is okay. She must be a really good and careful driver if this is her first accident! I am so glad she got away with a few bruises. Yes, I am sure the insurance man will take care of things.
Take care!
Lots of Love,
E.L.
