Another update
Fri Jan 14 2005

You're probably tired of reading about my tale of woe, and I hope the woe stops soon!! Believe me, I do.

Doctor shot me in four different places in my back. I going owowowowo- ooooooo-eeeeeeee-oh! that HURTS.

Now have an order for physical therapy, but the trouble there is that I can't get in until the 25th. That's almost two weeks. Also a chest x-ray to make sure my bones (particularly the clavicle) are OK. Now I think about it, a bone density test has already shown loss of calcium (fragile bones), so what's with the CXR? Oh well. I'll get it done. Some more pills. He told me to go home and put some ice on the area.

But I had some shopping to do, so didn't go straight home. I have one of those things you put in the freezer, and so I had an ice bag all ready for me. It felt good.

Then it came time to chat with my sister, and I lasted about an hour when the pain started again. So back to the recliner and the hotpad.

Went to class this evening from 7:00 to 8:00, then back home to the recliner and the hotpad.

Doctor hasn't ruled out a pinched nerve, but he wants to eliminate all other options first, as it will take an MRI to determine if there is or is not a nerve problem.

So I'll continue taking the anti-inflammatory pills, double doses of super strength Tylenol when the pain gets bad, continue doing gentle stretching and range of motion exercises. And hope. And avoid the Vicodin, unless the pain gets so bad the Tylenol can't handle it.

***********
The rains have continued to stay away. Thank you. Now I just need a nice sunny day with a low humidity to finish a project I started weeks ago.

But now it's time for bed and I'm ready. Funny how near-constant pain wears you out about as fast as hard labor does.

Goodnight.

Shalom

You didn't say so, but that sounded like cortisone injections. My grandmother had to have them from time to time. Hurts like hell, she said, but you feel so much better in a day or so that it's worth it. I hope it works for you like it worked for her!
    Feel better! That's an order!

Pain is brutal on your body, your body works overtime to the injured area tryin to heal it. No kidding you are worn out. I really hope it is not a pinched nerve. Stretching exercises can always help, if for nothing else with your circulation. Good Luck.

An MRI is what you need..
Those Xrays are not worth a cent.. You need the MRI..
If your doc is like mine you will probably have to tell him what you want.. They usually listen.
Why keep doing stuff that doesn't help?
At least that is my own point of view.. I have not done physical therapy for same reasons..
Practicing medacine.. Practice on someone else.. I say
