Buttons pushed?
Thu Jun 08 2006

Hmmm, seems I pushed a few buttons with my previous entry.  I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who objects to various stages of undress.  Thanks all for assuring me that I'm not just one cranky old lady,

Leisure League luncheon was good as usual.  Instead of being catered this time, it was put together by the Men of Mosaic Law Congregation.  A right fine job they did of it.  Singers and instrumentalists provided the entertainment.  I was surprised, though, that there was one song I didn't know.  Not the melody nor the words.  I didn't think there was an oldie I didn't know.  And by oldie, I don't mean the 1960s.  I mean the Gay Nineties, the Flapper 20s, the Big Band Era.  Those.  You know--the good songs.  Melodious.  No screaming.  Just singing.

Got a call from a friend late this afternoon inviting me to dinner at Fresh Choice (a mostly salad restaurant for those of you who don't have an FC in your neighborhood).  She said it was her treat, so how could I say no?  I may be cranky, but I'm no fool to turn down food that I don't have to prepare and clean up after.  After a leisurely meal, we went to our Thursday night class, and then she came in and visited awhile.

Altogether a pleasant day.

Oh, and the weather has been wonderful.  Warm sun, cool breeze.  But the fly in the ointment: smog.  Can't see the mountains the last couple days. That will be an increasing problem as the weather warms up.

Banshee knocked down a curtain rod, and I can't find the nail that came out of the rod hook.  Maybe I can find something in my so-called toolbox.

Shalom

My so called tool box is a cardboard box in my bathroom. I have a 5 foot bamboo pole I hang my robe on.. which sticks out of one end.. this box is skinny and long.. and about a foot and half deep.. so.. anyway.. I have my screw drivers, hammer, jar of screws and nails, duct tape, tacks, various sizes of open ended wrenches and I think pliars.. if dear GS didn't take them into his room
But.. if I need tools.. he has a very nice set.. in a real tool box.. he even has a power drill...

I had to go to Yetzirah's diary to see what you were talking about (In your comment).. wow.. that girl has got a good head on her shoulders.. I knew she was creatively talented when she was knitting those bags like a mad lady.. but this story.. wow.. I am going back to read it slower.. and savor it.. I know I missed layers of meaning first quick read through..
Thanx for pointing me in that direction.. That is my weekend plan.. read "The Seed" slowly
    hugs

oh I almost forgot.. I am so happy to hear you are getting out and about.. going to luncheons and with pals to dine.. It gives me a good feeling.. I thought you had been pretty much not doing since you got sick..and here you are still taking classes.. and all..
One strong lady.. who only claims she is cranky!!

GS is planning to go camping.. we have had rain for about the last 26 hours.. so I don't know what he is thinking.. I sure like the cool down.. and love summer rain..
    Have a good weekend

:) Well I'm guilty of wearing the clothes you complained about, but that's okay, I know not everyone likes them.
I don't have any tattoos. I had my belly button pierced.
I like hipster jeans but I take care to make sure that my panties are also not exposed, nor that my 'crack' is exposed when I bend over or sit down. They are so good for pregnant women when you can't button up anything over the tummy!
In my sub-tropical climate, less is cooler and tank tops are the coolest thing to wear. At least I don't wear my bikini in public, some people wear them when they go shopping because it's so hot. But I do make sure that my bra straps are either invisible or of the same colour as my tank top.
I haven't taken offence at your entry or anyone's comments on it. Everyone's different and everyone's entitled to their opinion :)
I'm glad you had such an agreeable day!

It's nice you have a pool. I know i'll be taking more advantage of the Big Lake as it heats up around here, it's a nice place to go sit and enjoy the breeze and get my feet wet even if the water is too cold to swim in. My sister's porch yesterday was pretty nice too, I envy her that! She has a big white pine and some other trees surrounding it so it is nice and shady.

My neighbors . . . I dunno! I just sincerely do hope they move if they are evicted or just choose to leave. Otherwise, I may have to rethink my own living arrangements.

The lunch sounds great! Glad you were able to get out and enjoy.

Thank you for signing the petition, dear Chaya! You are wonderful, as always.

Your Leisure League Luncheon sounds awesome. I had to laugh at your description of Oldies. Yes, to the rest of us, and to the record stores, Oldies mean music of the 50s and 60s! I do love Big Band music of the 20s, though. Swing, Ragtime... ah... Scott Joplin, Theophilus Monk, Jelly Roll Morton, the Savoy Orpheans.

Oy I have to agree with your comment on not turning down a meal you don't have to prepare yourself or clean up after. Nothing like letting someone else pick up after you for a change.

    Love to Banshee!

    Love,
    E.L.

Yes, I looked for some sheers and found ONE package of white sheers (needed two for the width of my window) although they had several in green. Would have looked nice but we have to have white per the owners. When I get some money ahead that is what I'll do. I love lacy sheers. I'm doing this on a non-existant budget and so far, so good. It's an improvement, and my neighbors seem to have gotten the hint as I have not seen them although did get an email from her which I'm not going to respond to. They are the type that if you open the door even a crack, they'll wedge their foot in.

Also thanks for the support and understanding of the Gnat and Spider situation. It really helped a lot as not everyone has had to deal with that sort of thing. I can see me using a blow horn when Gnat sticks his face in my window! That would be priceless.
