International Bombings
Mon Jul 11 2005

I have some ideas about how to stop these terrorist activities. But a couple observations first:

In the free world we do not knuckle under to fear. We fight back. Persuasion always works better than fear. Even in child raising. But as adults, we have some life experience that tells us that succumbing to fear just paralyzes.

I think that our president was misguided when he sent troops to Iraq. Yes, Saddam Hussein was a tyrant, but the supposed reason for unseating him was based on unreliable, and even false, intelligence.

What I propose is that all the intelligence agencies of the world, military and civilian, get together and share what they know or suspect. OK, so that's rank heresy, but what has it gotten us when the FBI and the CIA don't talk to each other? We got 9/11. And they're both American agencies!!

Why can't the military share what they know with civilian agencies when the nation is as at risk, as 9/11? And vice versa.

And how about *real* intelligence instead of facts twisted or even made up to fit one person's agenda?

What has has all this secrecy gotten us? Another nation attacked by cowards whose stated agenda is to spread fear, and to promote their own brand of religion and governance.

One of the best, and maybe *the* best intelligence agency is Israel's Mossad. Could we maybe take some lessons? Could we maybe get together with our friends and prevent another attack on another nation?

Could we?

Shalom

sometimes intelligent agency does just the covering politician's mistakes. Its hard to be unbiased if goverment is the one who pays you money. One thought came into my mind recently: with london bombings they cleverly achieved that noone paid attention to the G8 summit anymore. Now I wonder - whose interests it were - to take off public attention from certain "unpopular" desisions of that summit?...hmmmm...

    Dearest Chaya,

You could chat all day with my Twin Bro about Mossad. My brothers are huge fans of Mossad and we have books on the secret service and intelligence agencies.

You have some very wise ideas there, but most of us would argue that they are at best counsels of perfection, because fear comes naturally to all of us and people want to play it safe. It's all very well for us to say that we must be firm and show no fear, but try telling the parents whose children were killed in the Beslan school hostage incident to let their remaining children walk to school alone.

What we can hope for, however, is resilience. We can defy the terrorists by showing not that we weren't afraid, but that we are not afraid *anymore*.

    Please feel free to disagree!

P/S: Amber and I would love to drop in! Amber's a middling small dog, very roly-poly and cuddly right now. She loves hugs and belly rubs, she does!

    Love,
    E.L.

Well said!! A question how is Enron ,Tyco, and the job of President bond?
When the CEO tells the staff what he wants and find a way to do it NO Questions ASK, some very bad things crawl out of the mud.
We can not force DEMOCRACY on others as it must come from within and be EARNED.
HOLY WARS will go on as they have for Century's
Have we learned nothing from History.

You're right, Mossad has us hands down in intelligence gathering. The problem is that the CIA's hands are tied in ways that Mossads aren't. Until just recently they were allowed legally to torture people for information which the CIA cannot do (legally speaking, of course, which is not to say that they don't but they just couldn't use the info they got).

Anyway, yes, some info sharing would be nice but I don't think it'll ever happen due to power struggle issues. People cannot put their petty politics away long enough to fight terrorism *sigh*

    Hugs

Seems everyone has agendas.. and not for the better
I had two thoughts when I heard of the bombings.. I mean aside from the sadness and sickness of more innocent lives being taken..
First: the (bombers) waited to see what city would host the Olympics and then attack that city.. could have had also planned attacks for Paris or NY if those cities were to host

And second.. as a smoke screen to take spot light off the summit talks going on.. (G8 )
Since they were meeting on issues of helping nations.. World issues not so much political (save the earth and the starving people of the earth) it makes me scratch my head at who gained by that.. and why?
Or.. as it comes out that English citizens did this.. it begins to look more and more like the Oklahoma bombings here.. Or maybe I haven't heard all the news.. I've intentionally avoided over exposure to it.. makes me too sick! sad and depressed if I see the stuff too much!
    ((((((hugs))))))))

Good post by the way... !
