Be careful what you complain about.
Yes, my DD connection has been restored, and I got a lot more. I will explain.
I have two lodgers in my bedroom and invading my kitchen. To wit: Tracey and Gryffan. Tracey was nine days short of completing her probation when she was fired. Something about performance issues. No warning. No previous comments on her performance. She's pregnant? Naw...that can't be the reason. C'mon. Hmmmph! Of course they can't say it.
And to make matters even worse, when she called about registering for unemployment compensation, she was told she had to wait for two months. My question is "What is she to live on those two months without salary? Her massive savings account? That doesn't exist? Two months!? Has anyone else gotten that kind of info?
Well, the upshot is that they can't move into their apartment until Tracey is employed again. Gryffan doesn't make enough money to pay rent and have anything left over for things like food.
Thankfully, the manager has agreed to hold the apartment, but for how long? Her boss, the owner, may object to anything more than one month, so the manager doesn't have much leeway. Crossed fingers here.
Tracey has been looking, and sending out her resume. But she does have this handicap.
So there you have it. I'm not lonesome any more.
Bless the day

- From:Wrenchman366 (Legacy)On:Tue Aug 07 2007I do know PA only has a one week waiting period but things I guess are different state to state but I agree 2 months is an awfully long time I sure do hope they did not let her go because of being pregnant, Good luck to all of you, and I am sure you are not lonely for the time being..
Tim ;-) - From:Mamallama (Legacy)On:Tue Aug 07 2007Two months!!! That's sounds totally wrong.
How lucky they are to have you and a place to stay until things work out.
Hugs, Tiggs - From:404Error (Legacy)On:Tue Aug 07 2007Actually, this could work out very nicely. You won't have to struggle physically with things like vacuuming or moving anything heavy and they won't have to struggle financially just when Tracy's nutritional requirements are most crucial. I know it's not ideal and that it will be very crowded, but renting a storage unit is a whole lot cheaper than renting an entire apartment. Plus, if they stay, you'll have a BABY in the house soon! Oh, that would be so exciting!
- From:Yetzirah (Legacy)On:Tue Aug 07 2007Wow.
Let's pray for a way BETTER job and soon.
Have fun with your company! - From:Dreamerbooks2003 (Legacy)On:Tue Aug 07 2007Well you do have a full house these days..
Now tell me who are these couple??? friends? neighbors? relatives??
What a shame she can't work up until she has the baby,.
My granddaughter was so lucky her job let her work until the day.. and then paid her maternity leave for a couple months..
as for the unemployment issue.. if she quit it can take up to 6 weeks, but if she was fired.. or laid off only 2 weeks.. Have her call legal services and clarify that .. Course I have not been on unemployment compensation for years and as someone said.. state to state things are different.. I've never heard of a 2 month wait anywhere.. But learning these days.. There is much I haven't heard
;/ - From:Dreamerbooks2003 (Legacy)On:Tue Aug 07 2007LOL
as soon as I left that comment I remembered who your grandson was!! it isn't that I don't pay attention.. it is my brain is off!!! I turned it off some time ago..
Burnt out?? or something.. I just can't make connections that were once there ..
Sorry. I did know about your gs and his expectant gf .. isn't she due in Dec?? I can't believe they fired her for being PG..She can't be that big yet?? I mean.. .. What would be their reasoning??Maybe they don't want to get stuck paying for leave when she has the baby.. but still.. Dec.. is months away!!! and do all buz have to pay maternity leave?? - From:Welshamethyst (Legacy)On:Tue Aug 07 2007What a crock. It happens all the time. Guaranteed any female employee at my old company would also be let go for "performance issues" if they got pregnant. It's a disgusting world we live in sometimes. Thank goodness they have you to fall back on!
Hugs - From:Parett (Legacy)On:Wed Aug 08 2007Thank God for loving Grandmas!!!
- From:ImNotLisa (Legacy)On:Wed Aug 08 2007Oh - that's horrible, but kind of good too at the same time. Hopefully things work out and soon, I know being crowded isn't always fun but you do love your little ones and having them around could be good. I hope she finds another job and soon!
- From:FishCreekBride (Legacy)On:Sun Aug 19 2007Wow! That is so unfair. I hope she finds another job soon. Legally, her pregnancy shouldn't be a reason to not be hired... However, well, it may make it difficult.
