A lovely visit
Fri Jul 16 2004

I mentioned yesterday that I was having lunch today with a friend whom I've not been able to see in awhile. It happened.

One of the malls nearby has been completely renovated. The two anchor stores, Macy's and Gottschalks, are unchanged, but everything in between is new and sparkling. There's even a food court. Not a whole lot of choice yet, but there are two or three spaces yet to be opened.

We decided to dine with Subway: I had a veggie sandwich and she had a deli sandwich. The iced tea was sweetened raspberry, and it was good! We had a lot of stuff to catch up with and chatted for two hours. Wandered in and out of some of the new shops. Of course, a toy store caught my attention. I've been looking for games that my granddaughter and I can play when she's here. I'm getting tired of Go Fish.

I bought some keychains that had birthdates on them, and on the back a blurb about that person's personality. Bought one for myself, but according to the blurb, I can sometimes be overwhelming. Me??? Self-effacing me? Surely not! Ah, well......

Tried to renew my car insurance, but the office has moved and they neglected to inform me. How rude! Anyway, I telephoned and got the new address, which is right across the street from the mall where I was lunching with my friend. Tch!

Maybe I'll go tomorrow, but at least by Monday to renew my insurance. But I could have saved myself another trip had I known. Oh, well, it isn't that far away to fuss about.

Banshee greeted me quite noisily when I got back home. He seems to be having a problem with separation anxiety. Apparently my five-day trip away from home has done something to his catly psyche. Poor baby. He'll be a year old in a couple weeks. Should I have a birthday party? There are other cats in the neighborhood, but they're not on speaking terms with Banshee. So maybe I'll just buy a can of extra fancy cat food and sing happy birthday to him.

Oh, dear, I just remembered that I need to do some laundry. So...

Shalom until the next time we meet.

    Dear Chaya

What a shame you didn't know of the new address when you were at lunch! Never mind, you might bump into a friend or see something interesting when you are out again.

My daughter thoughtfully bought me a subway roll home on Wednesday. I saved it for my dinner, and boy was it yummy. It made me realise that I'm not getting enough fresh veggies.
It seems we have a subway store nearby now - oh my the neighbourhood IS improving ;)
