Phantom Knee Pain
Wed May 26 2010

Had my first session with my very own physical therapist. Seems my knee pain originates in my back.

Harvey put me through my paces this morning, he did. Had me standing, walking, bending in various directions. He poked and prodded, lifted and bent, and pulled and pushed. It soon became evident what was really hurting, and it wasn't my knee.

So next Wednesday, at the  ungodly hour of 0800, I start therapy. Those of you who know me, know that I'm averse to exercise. I wasn't always that way. When I was a kid I ran around harum-scarum just like all the other kids. Played some tennis and basketball in my teens. I'm a slow learner, and it wasn't until after I had babies that I learned the value of Relax And Let The World Go By.

So, anyway, in the interest of a mostly pain-free life, I'm willing to give (moderate!) exercise a try.

I'll be reporting to Harvey on Monday and Wednesday, mostly at a more civilized hour of 1100, but the first two Wednesday will really check my mettle. I expect my eyes will be open, but that doesn't mean I'll be awake. It's less than 10 minutes from here to the hospital, and I think I can make the drive in my sleep. We'll see.

Bless
