I urged her to go to bed and get well, but she insisted on driving down from Tiny Town to give me the candles she had made for me. They are beautiful bue and white. Thank you Cali. And pick up the menorot I had gotten for her and The Kid. I tried to get her to come in for at least a hot cup of tea before she drove back, but no, she wouldn't set foot inside the apartment. This was Thursday evening, so I'd be sure to have the candles she made, and so I could give her the menorot to take home.
I appreciate her concern for my health, and I can't express my gratitude to her for making the trip. I offered to meet her half-way, but she said she'd just as soon drive the whole way as it wouldn't save that much time, anyway.
So I ended up cooking latkes and tuna patties, and I got some jelly donuts for dinner with Megan and Rena. It was a very enjoyable evening, but I do wish Cali and The Kid had been with us.
Anway, we had three menorot burning in the front window. I lit the beautiful blue and white candles that Cali made for me. Megan lit candles in a menorah that she had given me several years ago. Rena lit candles in a small menorah that she uses when she's here. Anyway, it looked quite festive.
Something happened that we're still giggling over. It was hysterical when it happened. So....here's the story....
You all know that my cat Miki is neurotic and pretty much anti-social. But she was sitting next to me in my recliner while we were all chatting and enjoying each other's company. We got on the subject of a girl at Rena's school who is a bully and has picked on Rena several times. Now my granddaughter is a peace-loving person and tries to avoid objectionable people.
Megan talked to Rena's teacher about this girl, and told the teacher she had told Rena to deck the girl the next time she even so much as touched Rena. The teacher said OK. I know this unusual, but the girl is right next to being permanently expelled from the school and the teacher is not too concerned about Rena defending herself.
Anyway, in the course of the discussion, Megan suggest that if the girl even touched Rena, she should scream, fall down, cry, whatever, but make a big noise. Well, when Megan was describing what action Rena should take, she actually SCREAMED. All of a sudden Miki was down at the other end of the hallway. I swear she levitated. I was laughing so hard I couldn't laugh. Megan and Rena were practically rolling on the floor.
Later in the evening, when Megan approached Miki to give her a pet, Miki growled at her and fled back into my bedroom. I'm wondering now if Miki will ever let Megan approach her again. She was beginning to tolerate Megan and even requested a belly-rub. Well, we'll just have to wait and see whether Miki is forgiving.
Tonight, Rena and I lit the candles for the second day of Chanukah--all three menorot, and we turned off the living room lights. It was beautiful to see all those candles burning and reflecting in the windows.
So that's it for tonight. I'm so sorry about Cali's car. I hope the insurance company will come through with replacement value.
Happy Chanukah, Cali and Kid. Something good is bound to happen pretty soon. The Laws of Probability should be working FOR you just any time now.
Love, Joy, Happiness, oh,yes, and Prosperity to all in the coming year.
PS to Cali: Tonight I lit the little Havdallah candle you made for me. Again, thanks for your thoughtfulness!
