Just hung up the phone from talking with Marian. She's been home since 10am today. She had a good night, but had to take a pain pill earlier. Then later took a Valium because of sciatic pain. But other than that, she feels good.
Tired of course, and plans to go to bed early.
She won't be going to bridge club this Thursday, but I betcha she'll try next week. Trouble is, she's not supposed to sit or stand for more than 30 minutes, and you can't just get up and walk around when you've bid slam.
Trish has to leave on Thursday, but Marian feels confident she'll get along OK. She has a couple nearby who've been very helpful to her in the past, and I'm sure they'll be knocking on her door every day to make sure she's getting along, and helping her with whatever she needs help with. Neurosurgeon follow-up on the 19th.
I forgot to ask, but I suppose she will have to content herself with a swipe and a promise for a few days, then showering will be OK. No hot tub for awhile. She should be able to drive in maybe a week. I would suggest, though, no sudden stops or raceway take-offs.
Thanks, all you lovely people, for your prayers and healing thoughts.
Shalom

and YOU! - From:Mamallama (Legacy)On:Wed Feb 07 2007Thanks for the update and I'm very happy she is doing so well.
- From:Welshamethyst (Legacy)On:Wed Feb 07 2007I'm so glad Marian is doing so well. The advances in surgery in the last few years are totally amazing.
In '94 I had an ummm event that resulted in surgery. I spent 8 days in the hospital and left with 20 staples in my gut. Just proves how far we've come!
Hugs to both of you! - From:TraumaMama (Legacy)On:Wed Feb 07 2007I'm glad to hear she feels good too!
- From:404Error (Legacy)On:Wed Feb 07 2007She can probably take a shower now. You'd be surprised how quickly they let people shower these days. Even back 20+ years ago when I had my son by cesarean they let me shower the second day after I had him. I couldn't even stand fully upright yet. Lemme tell ya, those surgical clips were pretty scary feeling, even if I couldn't see them.
- From:CovertOps (Legacy)On:Thu Feb 08 2007Dear Chaya,
I will pray for Marian's speedy recovery. Thank you for the update. Ha ha ha about bridge!
Love,
E.L. - From:Waterspriteflying (Legacy)On:Fri Feb 09 2007Smiling for you and Marian. My Dad and niece play bridge, too, although Dad has had to give it up this past year.
And yes, Mel does have quite a head on her shoulders. Thanks so much for your support.
Hugs,
Ani - From:Waterspriteflying (Legacy)On:Sun Feb 11 2007Just dropped by to tell you your comment really made me smile. All the little dramas of life distilled down to the pleasure of a shower. You know, one of the things I'm most grateful for in life is water. What a wonderful thing for God to invent!
Hugs,
Ani - From:CovertOps (Legacy)On:Tue Feb 13 2007Dear Chaya,
Hope Marian is recovering at a steady rate and you too are having a good week.
Lots of Love to the Kitties.
Love,
