10 years ago, i was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. i never really processed this info- i was only determined to have surgery so that i could plan my trip to spain. fast forward to the beginning of june 2024 and bloodwork showed an uptick in values that mark for cancer. i found myself scheduled for a diagnostic dose of radiation in order for imaging to be done. 2 weeks of a low iodine diet, thyrogen injections, and the gamma camera- scans and CT.

• was basically vegan - not as hard as i thought it would be
• learned how to bake no sodium bread- 7th loaf kicked ass
• made my own salad dressing
• learned a whole lot about how to read food labels and realized that if ever i need to do this again - Trader Joe’s is my friend.
