ooooo....it's the three six's upside down!!!! oooooooo
~~
anyhow. missed the healthcare speech. you know. i have no television reception. never got the converter box. actually thinking about nixing the landline as well. have to save up because each month promises to take a bite out of my paycheck.

i mentioned a short while ago that my employer announced a hospital-wide meeting. our current medical insurer is raising the premiums 44% because they paid out more than was paid in. nice?! this is how the world works. even when you do have insurance, the premiums continue to rise. why? really why the hell do they continue to rise? pure greed.

if anything needs regulation, it is the numerous health insurance companies.
if i knew that the extra money was going to help someone else in need out, i wouldn't have a problem with it. but, somehow, i don't think that is what's happening.

same thing with medications. how the heck can walmart fill scripts at $4 dollars a pop while the local Rite Aid or CVS charges you an arm and a leg for generic brands? i know it takes billions to get a med out into the public. i know that the patents obtained will eventually run out allowing clones to reproduce and drive prices down, but before those patents run out...the big ole pharmaceutical companies will make their billions back come hell or high water.

eat right, work out, don't smoke, limit drinks, laugh alot... preventive medicine...

ps. the blatant lack of respect during the President's speech is at best...sad. really, are these grown men???? (if anyone needed a script for valium, it's that senator). i guess what i find most disturbing is the thick/hot hatred for illegal immigrants in this country. yes, everyone should be documented, yes, everyone earning should be taxed but to hate so much to the point of hysteria, well, i find THAT Unamerican. funny, as i said in the past, i have to wonder if these haters go to Sunday mass looking to repent...

in fact, it seems to be that the ones going to Sunday mass have the least amount of tolerance for the president and folks that happen to be a different color than their own. while it is not surprising, that Arizona pastor preaching hatred for the president from his pulpit was another sad commentary on those professing to love Jesus, The Lord, etc etc. does anyone else smell the hipocrisy in it all?

I missed the president's speech too. I'm more interested in what gets done than what gets said at this point.

I never missed my landline when I cut the cord. I'm ashamed to say I'd miss Animal Planet and SyFy if I axed the television, but the Prof and I have been talking about it.
