the test run to NBC this past saturday, well, let's just say that it figures i:
1. get stuck driving in a wicked rainstorm
2. but i don't get lost coming or going
in decent clear weather...i get lost! go figure...
saturday was also the day to get a tetanus shot since i found out that the 10 year deal wasn't what was required for school. i spent about 2 hours on the phone from work after punching out on friday, trying to find ANYWHERE that would administer the tetanus shot without charging me $100. i have to say that if the health department really wants the public to get immunized for various diseases, they sure as heck should make Saturday, and even Sunday hours available. who do they think will take vacation time or personal time off from work to go get a shot??? only 2 places were open saturday...one wanted to charge me $80! i opted for the $50 dollar charged plus $10 bucks for the office visit. i sat in the waiting room for 2 hours...(this was after driving in a rainstorm for 2 hours ---the commute to school from my apt is about 1hour) then, i got lost coming from the health clinic (which was only about 5 miles from my apt.) i don't know how i got there, but i sure as heck couldn't find my way home and ended up driving around south and west philly for about 3 hours.
let me tell you...south philly is ROUGH! and the roads are full of endless potholes. the trolley tracks don't help matters either. AND, it was raining cows and horses. all in all:
1. the gas i topped the tank off with was spent being lost for those 3 hours.
2. but i got some serious driving experience so, when all is said and done, it was worth it.
3. i'll never ask a philly police for directions.
the nice girl at the pharmacy gave me directions that finally got me home.
:-)
school will be tough, but i have to say that the atmosphere is wholly likeable.
very low-key. and folks there are super! nice. i got to pick a frog and watch a poor foal get taken apart...(i will require a large tub of vicks for pathology which will be a bear of a rotation since it is my last one and will be at the end of June in the sweltering heat!!!!!!).
ciao until next time.
