tangled up...
Tue Jan 15 2002

in blue.
my left shoulder cuff is messed up. every muscle in my neck is a balled-up knot. he asked me what the heck happened...

life happened. school stress, work stress, personal stress, relationship stress, no time for dinner stress, banged up by the bus-ride stress, sick cat's stress, not enough sex stress....you name it, they all have twisted and balled up each muscle in my upper back, neck and shoulder, with mr. cranky nerve getting his tail caught in the hindges to cause numbness the length of my left arm through to my fingertips.

the game plan?

special upper body weight training exercises. massage. alignment. awareness.

there was a time when anyone could tell i was a dancer. my back was straight, my breathing came from the diaphragm, my head was held high, i felt very tall..
now i feel like a turtle...

time to stop protecting my middle and isn't it funny that's where my heart is? time to open up, time to take a hot bath...and grab a nap.

i do feel some relief. i also see a difference. thanks for all the good wishes. hopefully it'll only be a few months of therapy to straighten me out.

Once again I have no words when they appear to be most needed. If it helps any, there's people out in cyberspace who give a shit. I know. I'm one of them.

franny, don't apologize for expressing yourself. This is YOUR forum. i am more concerned about you and how you are, than your use of colorful, and sometimes off-color, language. You are more than a nicely packaged set of magnetic poetry.

i hope you find some comfort today.

OK, now I'm worried. You'd better report in after you get the verdict, Franny, or I'm going to stew all day.

A few months of therapy? It would take me more days than i have left of therapy to get my body in shape. i have slowly, over years of neglect, turned my body into poo-poo.

Perhaps i should work on that.

    Here's to a speedy recovery!!

Thank god. I was starting to convince myself you'd gone and slipped a cervical disc from your description. This is *marginally* better. You didn't say if he prescribed you anything, but don't underestimate the power of a few days of anti-inflamatories if he didn't. I know some people pooh-pooh aspirin/tylenol/whatever, but they do relieve swelling, and give the body a chance to get stuff reseated.

    * agrees with salamander *

Vitamin I: Ibuprofen. You didn't hear this from me, but it takes about 3 capsules at a time to handle the inflammation when it hurts so bad it's throbbing.
