"i think that i shall never see
a poem lovely as a tree..."

yesterday, i walked home to find one of the neighborhood trees being cut down. a sad sight. not really sure what the circumstances were but some of the limbs had fallen off due to the lousy weather we'd had in september, but there were healthy leaves on it.

i'll never get how folks can "get rid" of things that don't look good enough or function the way they want without much thought or care. in fact, "get rid" is a devious coupling of letters that folks often use to discard:
-pets
-trash from their cars
-quiet and majestic giants that nature has given us the honor of sharing...

the trees lining the few blocks i walk from my apartment to get to the bus stop have many a time uplifted my heart when i wasn't feeling so great. there is nothing more beautiful than walking early morning after the first snowfall and seeing them standing quietly at sidewalk's edge wearing their winter gowns.

i'm the lady pulling the nails out that hold garage sale signs up. i untangle the plastic bags (manmade nooses) that have caught onto their limbs. i will even admit to saying hello, how beautiful you look...

people love God, worship and respect him... caring and respecting his creations is another matter.

so, every morning, i get to pass the poor stump that is left, and it's no different than passing the freshly killed carcass of the critters unfortunate to dwell on a planet hell bent on worshipping cars. profound sadness, march on.
