and so...
Mon Jun 08 2009

i've finally scheduled a deep tissue massage for tomorrow. found the therapist at a reputable site. credentials look good, plus she's used to working with runners. hopefully, this will be the first step towards feeling a whole lot better. i miss my long runs on sunday mornings. of course, the job has hampered me in several ways...mostly physically. long hours on my feet for 3 days the past year+ really has taken its toll on my body. i did get top of the line work shoes (danskos). it was a little tough breaking those puppies in but all in all, a sound investment. the balls of my feet, however, have developed medium sized callouses...almost like the ones i used to have when i danced.

i miss running every day. i've only really been running races just to qualify for automatic entry. i've been hitting the gym every day i have off though, alternating weight trainig with cardio work. my leg muscles are knots. i've been active most of my life and have never had a proper massage. i guess i'm way overdue.

drove up to see Mom yesterday. we ran some errands. we also visited Dad's grave. there was an empty rifle shell...most likely left by my oldest brother. somehow the beautiful silk flowers are gone...but the flag is still there (i tied it on with twine!) so, next time i drive up to visit Mom, we'll remember to bring flowers. we also went for a long walk around the Lake. it was a beautiful Sunday afternoon. of course, when we got back to the house, i promptly fell asleep. woke up hours later, ate dinner, fell asleep again. headed back to brooklyn at around 1am. got two cool pics of the brooklyn bridge on my way that morning. i love that bridge.

currently:
listening to:
The Fray - i like.
Beck - Modern Guilt (shite, he's good!)
Toadies - Hell Below/Stars Above (didn't like)

watched on dvd:
Pump Up the Volume - Christian Slater (it was okay)
Take the Lead - Antonio Banderas and Alfre Woodard (makes me want to learn the tango because it is freakin' hot!) really, Banderas only gets better with age.
