Rite of Spring (choreographed by Nijinsky), danced by the Joffrey Ballet with Beatrice Rodriguez as principal. music by Stravinsky (i borrowed a cd to burn from the library) love this dance and love this music. I saw this performance by the Joffrey back in the late 80's at City Center (in NYC).
Afternoon of the Faun danced by Nureyev, music by Debussy. a scandal when first performed. gorgeous piece, wonderful set and costumes.
Gelsey Kirkland in an excerpt of The Nutcracker. she had the magic, pure and simple. perfection, more perfect than perfect.
Agon choreographed by Balanchine. love the lines in this piece.

maybe this year, i'll go and catch a performance, i've never seen ABT or the NYCB perform...just the Joffrey. the last dance performance i saw was Merce Cunningham Dance Company at BAM (brooklyn academy of music). it'd be nice to see some classical ballet though.
