went downtown yesterday. i've decided to make gift baskets for each household for christmas. there will be something for everyone, including the pets (dog-bones and cat treats), christmas ornaments, kitchen trinkets, bath/aromatherapy stuff, chocolates, board books for the baby, art supplies for my 4 year old niece, hair stuff and make-up for the teen girl, thermal shirts for the men, batteries, one dogs for dummies book for my sis who has a cocker spaniel (emily) plus, i will show her how to express emily's anal sacs, clean her ears, and check her TPR. My niece, along with the girly stuff will get a medical dictionary, since she is pursuing a career in medicine and will probably go to school here in philly. that's the best this poor student can do. i do need to pick up a birthday gift for my bro...his b-day is the 24th!! (how sucky is that?)

besides the crazy-ass christmas shopping (i've convinced myself i was shopping to fight terrorism) i checked out one of the local radio station's rock art show and lordy...if i had a $1000 bucks to throw away...they had a cel of yellowsubmarine (the nowhere man sequence, my favorite!) all of the art was contributed by musicians, chairpersons are Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks. Both had original art for the silent auction. Ron Wood is such a wonderful artist. I remember when i saw the exhibit last year..he painted a wonderful picture of Bessie Smith and Billie Holiday. all auction proceeds go to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation. the t-shirts were designed by Glen Burtnik from Styx. it's an american flag with the word indivisible written on it...they were only $10 so, i got one for me and one for my dad! (he hangs the flag in front of the house every morning, he's a proud man!)

the cool thing this year is that a few musicians showed up and played..they had instruments set up and available for any who showed up. i missed steve forbert and john entwistle!!! shite.

anyhow. i've one more final to get through, the radiology part of surgery/radiology class. should be cake.

ps. i am now officially a fatgirl! this time of year is the toughest to lose weight. so...
in my knapsack are gym clothes, sneakers, and a towel. on my desk is a bottle of water. no bagel this morning, no elevator but that damned bag of non-pareils my boss gave me this morning is staring me down! oh no...my hands are reaching for it...

;-)

I will help you resist temptation if you'd like. Say the word and I'll email you my home address, where the offending chocolates can be mailed to.

Steve Forbert was in town?!!!!!!! Blast - XPN usually mentions that sort of stuff, but either they couldn't be bothered to mention it or I missed the announcements. *pout*

I was sooo close to bidding on a Joan Baez doodle a few years back, but couldn't justify the cost. I've kicked myself ever since.

Shopping to fight terrorism? i guess we're all doing our part.

Salamander - You are far too gracious for words. Imagine, selflessly taking those vile chocolates off of her hands...and with *no* self interest. lol!!

to Paulette: i could describe it in great detail and you could give it a shot! how's that??? it beats bringing your dog(s) to the vet, and saves $$. ;-)
