i've been working part time at an animal hospital while still at my regular job full time (the job that i hate). it's exhausting but i love the animal hospital and i really like all of the doctors there. the techs are pretty nice too. i've managed to stick two kittens for blood collection and the first one i didn't have the needle advanced enough, but i was in the right place...the second kitten, i was able to get blood on the first stick and i've had no problems with blood collection from the dogs. they're letting me do some lab work, mostly ear swabs, fecals and snap tests. they showed me how to work the software they have that generates invoices and today, they let me help with rads. ;-) i'm looking forward to assisting during surgeries...and anesthesia.
also, at some point, hopefully, someone will ask me to put a catheter in... i haven't done that on a dog or cat in a long time.

received a birthday gift from my buddy out in cali. i love and miss him. i sent him a 6 page handwritten letter. hopefully, i'll get a handwritten one back. we used to be writing fiends...there were plenty of times our letters overlapped. somewhere in that crammed closet of mine is a pile of old letters and poems from him stuffed in an old duffel bag that still has the mailing address label airports put on your luggage.

my brother is, at this moment, on his way to China for work. he and his wife are expecting their first child early next year. the baby shower is next month and i'm hoping i will be able to go. all of his buds from high school and college will be there with their wives. my bro is a great guy. they've given the baby my dad's name as a middle name. i almost cried when i learned this...
yep, they're expecting a little boy...

my neice will graduate from Penn State this year. she's studying forensic science. she rocks. my nephew (her brother) is in culinary school. he rocks too.
in fact, all my neices and nephews rock. i'm extremely proud of them.

i'm trying to get back into an exercise schedule and would love to run a couple of road races before the year ends, but i'm not at a great fitness level and i'm really beginning to feel my body slow down some. it doesn't help that i've begun to receive medical literature through the mail for my age group! crap.
how did 40 happen? and can it be undone?????

my love life is pretty much non-existant. and at this point, i prefer it that way. sure i miss sex and intimacy, but men are a pain in the ass most times.

one of my new favorite shows is House. Dr. House has poor bedside manner, he's pretty much a prick...a brilliant prick. there are many med students in training that seem to be following Dr. House's lead. my condolences go out to the nurses who have to learn how to handle these weenies.

i've neglected my friends here at dd. i've read but have been hesitant to leave comments from my work computer. i don't open my diary from there anymore. and by the time i get home, i'm pooped.

i did download the software that came with the review book i bought to be able to study for the big exam while on my lunch hour. this week i'll study pharmacology. last week it was anatomy and physiology, and the week before it was radiology.
