but last nights show...floored me. everything about the evening began terribly. i worked overnight and got home in the AM, only to have to wake up in 5 hours to head way uptown to washington heights from the tippy tip of brooklyn. i woke up feeling crappy...pms'in, irritable, sticky from the humidity and then it began to pour outside...like wet the windowsill and hardwood floor rain... i had a nasty headache...almost decided not to go to the show.
i am so glad i did. the venue was gorgeous and i hadn't realized how good a seat i had...i was actually in the fifth row left of the stage and i had an aisle seat!!!!!!!!!! sweet.
the music, the sound in that concert hall fabulous. even when it got loud, it still sounded great. there were horns, violins, 2 drum kits, piano, lots of percussion and of course, beautiful songs. songs that make you want to hug them because they are so sweet.
it's just such a relief to know there are folks out there making such sweet, honest, cut to the bone, massage the heart...music. nyc may be gritty, tough, dirty, hard, but last night...it was soft, sweet, and gorgeous.
Bon Iver is a slice of sanity and honesty, in a music world saturated with empty junk.
