i had a heated discussion yesterday at work. you'd think i'd learn never to discuss: politics, religion, or animal welfare. nope!
for the life of me, i can't understand the warped mentality about spaying and neutering and how some folk out there feel guilty about taking away their pet's baby making machinery...and then, in the next breath, complain about the stray population and how it's negatively affecting the neighborhood... HELLO!
"lady, you have a problem because your female is not spayed and goes into heat and attracts the stray males". AND. "it probably is a good idea to get the male kitten you brought into the house neutered" "NO, it doesn't matter if they're related, when the time comes, they WILL mate!"
just one word... "BONEHEAD"
okay, another one...EDUCATION.

great weather for a morning 3 mile run. i'm in the process of planning a training schedule that will include long runs (essential for running marathons), easy runs, tempo runs, speed runs, and weight training. so far, my long run is a little over 12 miles. i would like to average about about 20 miles a week. it's tough, though, working some extra hours. this week is especially tough to fit runs in since i'm covering for another employee until friday. once i get the schedule done, i'll begin training with the trainer. i went to the gym this past monday and did some leg work and then did hills on the spinning bike. heck, i might just take the spinning class in the evening. that'll get my legs in shape, get me fit aerobically, and keep me lean. i don't want to bulk up...that'll only just give me more weight to carry to the finish line. 1 item i need to purchase, a heart monitor that has a stop watch feature. i want to run at a certain pace and it's just too tough with a regular watch. i have a time goal i would like to reach, but i have to work on my pace.

i won't lie...this is freakin' tough-ass work. but on the great side, i'm in decent shape, the ole gams are looking pretty sweet and i get to eat pretty much whatever i want...ice cream comes to mind about now.
a quote i read in Runner's World made me smile, don't remember the runner but he probably won a marathon or two...anyhow he said when asked about any training secrets, "I don't drink alcohol and I don't kiss girls". yep.
recently i was asked if everyone in my family was as fit as i was. i replied no. it would be easy for me to get heavy. when asked how i stay fit, i replied:
-i don't drive
-been vegetarian since about age 13 (i'm 38)
-i am physically active
no bullshit diet pills, no surgery, no starvation. the only way to lose weight and get fit is to get up off your ass and MOVE. the human body is designed to move.
okay. enough.
must work.
ciao&meow.
kitkats are doing fine.
;-)
go for a walk today.
