i've begun submitting resumes. i have had 2 bites so far, one position was too far (1 hour's drive) and the other...i have an interview at this week. it would be a 30 min drive and/or subway ride (beats the 1 and a half subway ride into manhattan)...
i'm sad that this present workplace isn't working out because it was the type of hospital setting i wanted to work at, not a small animal hospital that does vaccinations or fecals...i wanted to work at a teaching facility that did specialty work...alas, the hospital manager has turned into a bastard...doesn't know what he's doing, and is basically screwing everyone accept for the new ER tech he's hired...he promised her a sweet shift of sun, mon, tues, with only an occasional saturday because she has home stuff she needs to do and told him if she wasn't able to, she would not take the job. of course, he's screwing her now too...he's putting her in ICU even though she was hired to work ER.
my time there is close to the end and i'm angry and a little depressed. but it is becoming morally wrong to work there. i'm tired of being overworked, in charge of 2 wards and no help unless ER isn't busy. the hospital is doing well, though, we've been busy, we had a vent case, dog was on for at least 5 days at about $1000 a night. and yet, we don't receive the 5% cutback. the rumor is they will give it back based on performance which is bullshit. they took it from everyone (with specialty docs getting a 10% cut) due to the poor economy. they should give it back now that the hospital is doing well and hold back raises due to performance. i don't think they're giving back our 30 minute lunches either... it's all about the money. it isn't about patients, or clients, or employees...it's about money. they've just opened another hospital in minnesota.
i'll miss some of the doctors and co-workers but the hospital manager and business manager can both go to hell. and as for the co-workers who never wanted to rotate saturdays, i hope they get screwed as well.
