a concoction created by you. first you bitch and moan that you don't have time to shop during the week, so...walah! the stores are open, out goes blue sunday...
complaining complaining that the you don't spend enough time with your kids...off to work on sunday to pay for a house of things...

i once worked for a vet. he had his own practice. he gave all of his employees tickets to see a play at the local theatre. after the play, we met at his beautiful house. he had a grand piano and gorgeous artwork. the kitchen alone was the size of my bedroom, bathroom, and part of my kitchen. he owned pure-bred dogs. i always noticed his young daughter's newly done nails.

his wife had a habit of calling him at the hospital. she'd call during surgeries, during exams, during consultations. she'd barge in during the last client visit, during ear washes and vaccinations. the kids closely behind. his son was fond of filling the latex gloves with water and making all around messes. she complained and complained about how he always worked late, how there were always emergencies, how they never could go out to dinner...

one day, when the missus barged into the exam room, i believe i was restraining a very smelly spaniel (his ears were in horrible shape), she came in with one of the kids and began to ask if he would be done soon...i could see the smoke beginning to rise and exit from the doctor's ears...

"do you love your house and all the nice things you have?, do you love your car and all of the shopping you do? you have all of these things because i work my ass off. if you want to have me home more often, i'll quit this practice and get another profession, but you'll have to limit your spending and be satisfied with what you have.."

silence.

thought so...

changing the world. Mother Theresa gave up everything she had, went out to the sick and dying and took care of them until she died. Jesus himself owned nothing but what he wore. i read an interesting article in Sierra magazine about trying to live a simpler life. less stuff, less waste, less everything.
i have to wonder how many people out there, expecially those who are the first to spout off, how many are willing to give up their nice cars...to take the bus, how many will give up meat to save all the grain fed these animals to feed people instead. i'd love to know how many people buy books, instead of using the ole public library to save on tree death..i wonder how many walk to the corner store, instead wasting gas by driving...
the cow is sacred in India. there are those who laugh/dispute how wise these people are for starving instead of slaughtering for meat. refrigeration is expensive for a peasant. i'm with their thinking...use the cow to transport, till the soil, use their dung to heat the house...more uses for a cow that's alive than dead...

so, while you sit comfy on your ass at your desk writing, and spouting off at the mouth, remember how comfy your ass is...

simplify.

ps. and give me the credit to know my shit stinks too, i am well aware...
