mistake.

yes, my local bank branch insisted that my balance was in the negatives because the $15,000 i had deposited hadn't cleared.

can you imagine going to the ATM for $10 to grab some coffee and a bagel and find that your account is negative $15,000???

these are the times when:
-you can't find a 1-800 number for customer service
-you don't have a bank statement, because why in the hell would you need to carry it?
-the online site gives all the info you need EXCEPT if they have 24-hour service because you found the problem before the chickens wake up or the bank managers get to work...

*i will take the time now to say that the majority of workplaces have too many damned workers with a really shitty work ethic. the new mantra is: how little can i do and get away with it???
-i see it at hospitals
-i see it where i work
-i see it on the street

so, why the hell did i think i'd get a decent answer, some understanding, and someone (anyone!) making an effort to find the problem at my local bank branch.
-all i got was questioning
-skeptical looks
-and a duet watching and whispering in the corner...
(these are supposed to be professional people)

i don't waste time. yeah, i'll give you my contact number, but I know that the deal will be that i'll be waiting all day for you to call with a solution/answer to what happened with my account. thanks but no thanks. time to call headquarters and speak with someone who actually knows what the hell is going on and who will most probably care (that's why they're working at headquarters).

this person took less than 15 minutes to find the problem.
meanwhile, the people at my branch were probably huddling, after i left, trying to figure out what the game plan would be...

don't worry girls. i did your work for you. i used my f*cken brain and called the big cheese, because in the end, i knew you wouldn't have any ATP left in the few brain cells you do have to actually think: "maybe we should call downtown?"

and me being me, well, i just had to call you back to let you know that i called downtown and the problem got fixed. i also threw in that i didn't appreciate the skeptical looks or attitude. didn't let them get too many words in before i hung up.

-yes, a little mean. but i have no patience for slackers/incompetence/dumbasses.

needless to say, i'm thinking about changing banks now...
