yesterday was something else...by the time i got home from class, 10pm, i was dog tired and didn't much care anymore about who has been sitting at my computer during the witching hours of the night/early morning...

had fun gowning and gloving...there's definitely an art to dropping the gown and diving your arms into the sleeves, closed gloving, i believe, was invented to get more patients for the cardiologists of the world...it's impossible to put sterile gloves on with the cuff of your sleeve over your hand. open gloving was invented by a good samaritan, who took pity on the spaz' of the world...

today is such a beautifulrific day! i'm somewhere else now. i'm not here at my desk. i'm on a blanket in a quiet park, watching the lone sculler row by, with a big fat doghead on my lap, and perhaps wings around my shoulders...green grapes, sharp cheddar, and a box of triscuits...ah...

it's putting on a sterile gown and latex/rubber gloves to assist the doctor in surgery. it's really important to be sterile and keep sterile so you have to watch out for edges touching contaminated surfaces. anything or any body part that is below the waist isn't considered part of the sterile field. (ever wonder why after scrubbing up, doctors and nurses keep their arms bent at the elbow and in front of their chest area?...to keep them as clean as possible)
hope this helps you a little...

And technical assistents who understand gowning and gloving are godsends. Not to mention experienced techs who have to walk newby vets through the whole routine again because they were too dense to "get it" in vet school.

I love casting cows!!!!! Don't try it too often on the same cow, though - they learn to resist.

Cowgirl hat is optional, but boots are not.

Get a good tail vein stick then? I always managed to nail the artery.
