the six fingered hand
Tue Jun 22 2004

apparently i am not the only fan of this series that ran on WPIX (channel 11 in NY). i found a few sites dedicated to Horror B-movies. i remember, because i WAS young at the time, getting chased out of the livingroom by my big brothers and sisters because the movie was too scary. i was one of those kids who'd cry for mom and dad in the middle of the night because i'd had a nightmare... in fact, i've had lots of nightmares in my life. some of them would replay...i'd have the same dream over and over. one in particular that comes to mind is my dad as a giant, as tall as the projects where we lived way back when, peering through the windows... I suspect that was influenced by watching that B-flick Attack of the 50ft Woman...

list of flicks that scared the doobie doo out of me (when i was a kid)
-Attack of the 50ft Woman
-Burn Witch Burn
-House on the Haunted Hill
-The Wizard of Oz (flying monkeys)
-Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein
-and i'm ashamed to admit but... a few episodes of Scooby Doo.
;-)

-i've watched The Exorcist once in my life and that was as an adult
-i loved but was scared to death by The Omen movies
-The Birds and Psycho got the best of me...can't watch those again

i am so not a horror movie fan. can't watch em even now, very glad i was shield from them as a vulnerable kid

i do remember, however, not being allowed to watch doctor who (!!???) for some reason but watching it one time at my nanas and getting completely freaked out by it. i was only a young tyke, perhaps 6 or 7. i also vaguely remember seeing some awful monkey movie, or part thereof, when very young and that freaked me too

ahhh yes, not much has changed. still don't watch the scary ones. i'm just a big wuss ;)

I don't remember the "Six Fingered Hand" but we had Creature Double Feature and Dr. Shock (who hosted horror films on Saturday afternoons with his then five-year-old granddaughter to help buffer the shock for the littlest ones).

It was a big deal in Philadelphia when Dr. Shcok (whose real name I cannot remember for the life of me) died some years back.
