Sunday did chores, did laundry. one of the wheels fell off of my little oldlady carriage on my way home. i walked part of the way back and found pieces that keep it on, repaired it then and there and wheeled on home.
sundays are nap days. me and the cats nap.
got up around 4pm...gave them a little something to nibble on and i decided to go for a quick run...so, i ran about an 8 minute mile and then ran fartleks (5) until i got back home. did 150 sit-ups, bicep curls, worked the triceps,and did squats with my weights in each hand. made dinner and got clothes ready for work.
not much television watching. i missed Searching for Shakespeare part? on PBS. watched a little of the Forsyte Saga II last night.
caught the live drama of Homeless Man who showed up last night between 6-7pm. i saw someone come into the building but when i didn't here the inner door open, i knew it was him. i walked downstairs and he was standing there in the foyer taking notes and talking to himself. once he realized i was standing there, he took off. was gone for about an hour and then came back. i walked downstairs and saw him fast asleep on the floor.
-i washed my hands of this situation when the other tenants protested the idea of putting a lock on the front door.
-i almost put a sign up that said, "Tired of the smell and garbage on the floor brought in for nesting? use your UPS packages to cover your nose and wipe the mess away..." packages and friends having access to the apt. buzzers are the reasons some tenants made a big stink about putting a lock on the door...
these are the same stunods that leave the inner door (leading to the hallway and apartment front doors) open for their friends so they don't have to buzz them...
one of my nosy neighbors heard me going in and out of my apt. and knew that i was on the lookout for Homeless Man. it was then that i decided, the hell with it. let someone else do something. i'm tired of calling the useless landlady. i'm tired of picking up garbage in the front of the building. i guess nosy neighbor was put off when she didn't hear me calling the landlady or police. i brushed my teeth and me and the cats hit the sack. then i hear some commotion at the front of the building and lo and behold...it's the police escorting (well, they stood at least 5 ft away) Homeless Man out of the building foyer. off he went with his little bag.
i can sympathize with this man. he is lost. has given up. etc. etc. but why in the hell doesn't he camp out at the mayor's house? why is it that the little folk who are barely scraping by, why is it that we are the ones consistently dealing with people shooting our kids, raping us, assaulting us, robbing our apartments, holding us up on our way home...
can i say that...
it totally sucks when you don't have the $$ to keep yourself safe.
let's see. 4 women killed recently, there might be a serial killer on the loose.
3 rapes in the park, 1 homicide that hit too freakin' close to home...
1 kid shot in the head on his way into the school building...he later died, he was only 10. one kid runover on his scooter by a woman who dragged him under her front tires for a block, had to be stopped by a passerby and told that she had a scooter between her front tire and front bumper...they found the kid (13years old) a block back. the driver attempted to drive away 2 times. had it not been for the passerby, she would have taken off.
Philadelphia is a really dangerous place to live. it is full of the uncaring rich, complacent middle-class, and shell-shocked poor...
if/when i finish school, i am so outta here.
~~~
here's hoping that Homeless Man doesn't ruin my vacation plans. i felt obligated to give the petsitter's a heads up on the situation and they may very well feel it is unsafe to send a sitter to care for my cats...hence i miss a very important day coming up...
definitely a fubar situation.
