OK, let me just say that yesterday was a really crappy day. I'm not talking about your average shitty day. I'm talking major manure here. I'm talking the sort of day that you just want to wipe off the personal calendar and pretend never happened. So that's exactly what I'm going to do: depress the FLUSH handle on the giant toilet bowl of life and not look back.

Still, in the Mary Sunshine, every cloud has its silver lining, isn't life grand approach to daily existence, yesterday was not a total waste. I left work (yeah!), and raced a very ominous looking weather front coming in from the west on my way home. I showered, changed, and was fooling around on my computer when the rain finally hit in earnest.

It was a fine storm, brief hard downpour followed by a more mellow spring rain. As the storm tapered off, the sun was approaching the horizon, and when it came out it was as if someone switched the light back on in a darkened room. I looked out, and realized that even though the sun was out, it was still raining.

I called out to the Socialist that there must be a rainbow out there, and rushed downstairs to look. I then ran back inside, informed the Socialist that if he was any kind of romantic whatsoever he'd better come back outside with me, grabbed my camera, and then dashed back out. This is what I saw:

I took half a dozen pictures in all, while the Socialist reminded me that he'd already seen a double rainbow just a few weeks ago (one that I had missed seeing), implying it wasn't any big deal and that I was getting him wet for no good reason. He relented a bit when he realized he was annoying me, but I think the next time I'll just keep it to myself.

Way to go! That's a great rainbow shot. I love rainbows. It reminds me that no matter how bad the storm, the sun will come out and beauty remains.

    ahhhhhhhh, what a beautiful shot!!!

Men just aren't wired the same way we are. They get all gooey over BBQ grills, sporting events, etc and I wonder if they think that we are less than romantic for not getting gooey with them on those subjects?
