I am not even part of the Oort cloud in most people's universes.
The question is, why does that come as a surprise every time I learn it? Less than complimentary things can be said about my ego some times.

Stop beating yourself up. Ego is part of human nature and we all have bouts with the darker side of it, as well we should because it gives us a frame of reference for who we are and who we wish to be.

Of course you're not the center of the universe. Your cats are, just ask them!
Seriously, I think it surprises us all when we realize that we aren't the focal point to everything we occasionally think we should be. Blame it on human nature.

LOL@ alimom !
Seriously though.... who would want to be the center of the universe. Too many eyes looking!
You however are very much part of the universe of others.Don't ignore the significance you have in some peoples lives.

If I could use Oort Clouds in a meaningful sentence, I'd have an ego, too.
Not even the ability to guess at the gist of such a sentence guarantees me a spot in the Oort Cloud of the Universe of the person speaking it. What the hay, ya know? Even if I try as hard as can be to be as smart as I need to be to fit in, I make mistakes, and hurt people I never intended to hurt. And the doors of friendship slam shut. Who the heck needs 6 billion friends anyway?...And that's just the TERRESTRIALS.
