We went upstate to the mall that I'd gotten my multi-colored candle holder at a couple of years ago. I wanted a replacement for the blue holder that a certain kitten smashed a month ago (see my entry for February 12th entitled "Shattered Sleep for all the gruesome details). It turns out that the candle store I'd purchased the holder from isn't in business any more. I'm a little bummed, but not surprised. It was such a beautiful day it was probably worth the drive up anyhow, just as an excuse to get outside. I fear that I'm going to have to trash what's left of the candle holder, or figure out some clever way to hide the gaping empty space left by the absence of one of the glass inserts.
Last night The Socialist rented "The Ring" for us to watch. I have to admit, it was better than I expected it to be. I'm usually pretty good at guessing how movies like that are going to end, but this was anything but a by-the-numbers plot. While watching, we repasted on another Trader Joe's dish - this time a lemon chicken dish. Not quite as good as the rosemary chicken dish, and nowhere as near to Nirvana as the rosemary lambchops, but it was still quite good, and yet another low sodium meal I can add to my otherwise very short list of prepared low-sodium foods.
I spoke to the Socialist this afternoon about wanting to have Easter dinner at our place. It will actually make things easier on me, since I won't have to travel to a meal and then be out late (the next day is a workday, afterall). He's all for it, so now all that is left is to try and con the sisters into it. Both of them adore the O'Beast, who was originally my mother's cat, and I can probably persuade them to let me do dinner here if I convince them that the O'Beast will pine if I leave him alone Easter day. It's worth a try, anyhow.
I promised my friend the lady cop in San Diego to send her some pictures of the group of us at the San Diego Zoo. I think that was two Christmases (Christmas's? Christmasi?) ago, but I'll have to check. I'm pretty sure that the Socialist has most of the shots from his camera. I'll have to touch base with him and see if we can get these burned onto a disc or something to send her. There's quite a few very large format pictures as I recall, and there's no way I could possibly send them as attachments.
If I recall correctly, "Riverworld" is on the Sci Fi channel tonight. I loved the books, and am curious to see how it fares as a movie. Translating it to screen will be a difficult challenge at best. I'm off to check it out.
