Painted Vase
Tue May 10 2011

It is indeed round, Yehti. This is a marginally better picture of it, though it would seem I have no pictures at all of it that don't include at least some portion of cat. I got this vase for a song because there is a scratch through the paint on one part of it. The vase is so intricate that the scratch isn't obvious. I had originally planned to fill it with glass marbles or glass pebbles, but decided I liked the way it looked when it was empty when the sun hits it full on so I left things simple.

I hope your dr appts go well.

I do love that vase in the window with all the branches on it… the tall square one.

    Lovely thing that.

George is doing the same thing at the opposite end of the season - going from window to window catching the last of the autumn sun.

RYC: We don't even make the news here very often now - most of the country has moved on to worrying about other things, and unfortunately the news from Christchurch is just more of the same: more aftershocks, thousands of people still homeless or living without water or sewerage, hundreds of businesses unable to operate and money running out to pay staff leading to huge layoffs, more historic buildings being demolished... there's not a lot of "new" news there, so we don't get a lot of coverage other than locally.

If you are interested, Stuff (which is a news aggregator site picking up stories from the main NZ newspapers) still has a dedicated Christchurch earthquake page: http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/christchurch-earthquake

Nothing like a personality to bring life to a picture. These are very good.

RYC: You aren't rubbing my nose in anything because I'm packing a bag and coming to visit your deck. And you, too *laffs*

Beastly hot again today with a kajillion percent hugemidity. It's supposed to break tomorrow and return to more normal temps. Let me just say that I can't wait.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the pollen index is at 10.6........

My face feels like it weighs at least 100 pounds and I blow my nose approximately every 30 seconds. I'm so glad it's Spring ;)
