I've applied for my first job as a CPhT today. It's at a pharmaceutical service that supplies long term nursing care facilities, which need completely different packaging than home health care or hospitals. They want experience, but I think I fudged that nicely on the cover letter of the resume. I'd like the job because of its proximity to where I live, but there's plenty of others to apply to.
Ironically, I have to hold back on how many resumes I send out. My unemployment requires two verifiable job applications a week for me to qualify. If I send out to all the jobs I find now, I won't have any to send out to next week. There's a job about an hour's drive from here I'm eyeing up - they do veterinary compounding work, and while the drive would be hellacious, the blend of my backgrounds would be perfect for this place.
I spent hours on my resume today, getting it ready to submit. The Prof's college has a person on staff specifically there to help the "over fifty crowd", and she's turned out to be a magnificent resource in pulling my new resume together. Wish I'd known she existed sooner, since you don't have to be a student at the school to make use of her services (which are absolutely free).
It feels strange to be done with the class. I feel like I should be studying something.
