- My friend, Dr.Something-Less-Than-Twenty-Cats, after she reached a similar milestone not all that long ago.
Had a doctor appointment in the Big Shitty this morning for a post-op check. I passed with flying colors, but they've flagged me from driving for another two freaking weeks. We'll see. I've done some limited driving already, I'm not using the pain pills, and I have no one to lean on for transportation. I'm not going out of my way to drive, but I ain't promising not to, either.
Fortunately, the storm front that rolled through last night cooled things off without doing any lasting damage. LGS's blood sugar went through the roof, and I had to give her twice the insulin she usually gets, but this morning she was back to normal so no harm done.
Last night, before the storm, I saw the first firefly of the season in our backyard (though I've been seeing them a few miles from the house for the last few weeks). Today, the first monarch butterfly floated through the complex, making me wonder how Waldoette made out on her autumn trek. My cup-and-saucer volunteers are now nearly 30 inches high, and the hydrangea is starting to bud. I'd say summer is all but official at this point.
So, welcome to the next year of my life.
