On his current schedule, the Professor is asleep when I get home from work, so I have evenings to myself for the next few days. Last night I spent time scanning and resizing photos from the Boston Duck Tour I took. I'm planning on putting a photo report together for the forum I participate in. I'll upload some of the photoes to my Dear Diary Photo Album as well, so that anybody who is interested here can see them also. I haven't decided if I'm going to include any photos of myself or not on the DD photo album, but none will be on the photo report.
I've invited the sisters over for dinner on Tuesday to meet the new kitten and go over cat care instructions for when I'm gone. The kitten is supposed to get booster shots while I'm away - I don't know if I have the guts to ask one of them to cart her to the vet's or not. The kitten also needs her final oral dose of antihelminthic while I'm gone, and I know the sisters won't be up to that, so maybe I can get them to combine that with the booster updates. They'll also have to be shown how to give George his heart medication, and I'll need to emphasize that they have to be consistent as to what time of day he gets his pill. I can just see them giving him one pill at night and the second the next morning, thereby overdosing him on his beta-blocker. I wanted to get a vet friend to apartment sit for the week we'll be away, but the Professor did NOT like the idea. I suppose if the tables were reversed I wouldn't have been thrilled about having a friend of his come to the apartment unsupervised for a week either, but it would have been a great answer to the cat care problems, having a veterinarian right there with them while we were away.
I spoke with the Professor about looking into a job with USDA so that he could move back to California. He was, surprisingly, not enthusiastic about it, saying he wasn't ready to move back yet. I was under the impression that he wanted to go back sooner rather than later. Ironically, I notice in the most recent JAVMA (Journal of the American Verinary Medical Association) that USDA is paying hiring bonuses for people who apply for certain positions in California (can't imagine why, since I would have thought CA would have been one of the more popular choices). Still, it looks like I'll be at my current job for a while now, unless either the Professor or my company changes their minds about things. Then again, USDA has positions open in PA as well, and they are paying bonuses here too. Problem is, if I pursue this now, and take a position in PA, I'll be locked into PA for a while. I don't think I want to do that quite yet.
