Oops... I was getting ready to suggest the webpage fast-food route. Geocities is the only one I've ever built on... not to say I did very much of that! But everybody else in the Universe seems to have a personal page on the Web these days so maybe the ambition will kick in for me sometime soon...

I think virtue.nu and envy.nu are the best free places around. No pop-ups, multiple file uploading, you can do your own html or use editors, basically no restrictions.
I use virtue and I love it!
