... a 13 year-old hispanic boy lost his life after being trapped in a house fire that maimed his brother and destroyed his family's home. His mother found the courage to make an impossible decision under heart breaking conditions.

Remember that boy today.

Ten years already? I still remember those days in sharp relief (in more senses than one)

I will indeed keep him and his courageous mother in my thoughts today.

I do think of him and of you often. My Jordy will be 23 next month. Guess they were the same age.

I can't believe it's been 10 years already. I'll keep he and his family in my thoughts today, and wish you a "happy liver day".

Modern medicine… and compassionate people… take my breath away sometimes.

Hope you are well. Are you writing anywhere else??

    Y.

I am, as I always do this weekend. I also did a few days ago. Did you hear the NPR story about the kidney transplant recipient who met his donor's family? I thought of him and you then.

I think of you, the boy and his mother almost every day. Still, it's hard to believe it's been ten years. Where did the time go?

I thought of both you and him, and I salute you both.
