I've elected to give Xanga a try - it does't have the flexibility of the Old Dear Diary, but it lets me do a lot more formatting than the new DearDiary.Net does. Xanga is well established, has a good security rating, and seems to have a good support section. It did take me the better part of an afternoon to figure out how to format my diary, and there are still some tweaks I need to figure out, but when I remember the days it took me to finally master Dear Diary's customizer, I'm not unhappy with Xanga's set up.
If you are interested, please feel free to subscribe to my new diary, but don't feel obligated just because you used to subscribe to this one. If you decide to move to Xanga rather than follow Dear Diary to its new WordPress site, I have started a Group at Xanga called "Dear Diary Refugees". It's open to anyone to join.
I'll make a few more updates here, just to make sure that anybody who gives a darn knows where I am. I'm hoping I've found a place to settle for the next ten years.
