Had it out with the supervisor of another department on Friday. He wanted me to do something that was totally against protocols, and I refused. He kept trying to argue with me, and I told him to either go to his supervisor or to the guy who interprets the protocols, but that I was not budging. I then complained to my supervisor about how I was being treated. Lo! An hour later, apology proffered. I have absolutely no idea how sincere it was, and I don't care. It was due me. I'm tired of cutting these guys slack only to have it turn around and bite my butt.
Trying to coordinate doctors remains tricky. I'm getting copies of all my bloodwork faxed to me through the occupational health department at work (the head nurse is fast becoming a friend of mine). I then turn around and fax it to two to four other doctors, just to make sure everybody remains in the loop. My liver numbers are an eighth of what they used to be, just skirting above normal now. Bilirubin is actually normal. My BUN/creatinine ratio is disturbing though. Add to that the fact that I've noticed my urine is frothing a bit the last couple of days (yeah, I know, too much information) and I suspect I'm going to have to go back to get a full renal work up. My sugar continues to run around 200 during the daytime; not awful but not good. The transplant docs owe me a call - I don't know when I'm supposed to get my next labs done and for some reason they aren't talking. If I have to, I'll do an end run around them and get my gastroenterologist to authorize some tests. I like it better when he gets them first anyhow.
Adding insult to misery, I just picked a fight with The Prof. It's his fault. He's incapable of referring to any candidate other than the one he's chosen to back without name calling. He knows that I'm leaning towards another candidate, and he goes out of his way to use offensive language when referring to them. I informed him I was tired of it and stalked upstairs. He took off in his car about fifteen minutes ago, probably to escape me and my little steroid empowerment hour. With luck he'll find a nice bar with the election returns and leave me out of the loop.
