We went to Borders bookstore over the weekend. I hadn't intended to purchase anything, but I wandered into the CD section "just to look" and wandered out again with a two CD compilation by Electric Bonsai and Eliza Carthy's new one in hand. At least I forced myself to put down Kirsty MacColl's new one before I inflicted too much damage. I also got a nice looking and relatively inexpensive travel book on New Zealand. I am determined to go next year.
I found out last week I have to run some pathology samples down to New Bolton tomorrow. I'm already plotting how to make this a full day affair out of the office. I don't think I'll be able to pull that off, but I am going to try and make as much of a day of it as I can. I'd like to talk to the vet who runs the Path department there, who has kind of taken my under his wing, and bend his ear about my career concerns.
Goal for the week: Get the first draft of chapter one written. I don't care if it has to be rewritten and then rewritten again to get any kind of polish on it. I don't care if it's trash and I end up not using any of it. All I intend is a first step. I'd like to have that first step taken before my 45th birthday. As good a goal as any, I suppose.
