Emo?????
Wed May 15 2002

OK, I know I'm "old". I know I'm out of it. But there has been an influx of a new word in these parts. A quick and incomplete search of diarists' names turns up (Dates in parentheses are first entries for some of these diaries):
EmoGirlCrys
emoposer
brokenemofaery (Nov)
EMO22
neemo80
EmoGrlKym687 (Dec)
emoandrea
OhSoxEmo (Jan)
emofrappacinno
emotastic
punkemochck
emoCry (Feb)
extrEMOkid
extrEmoKidd
EmoPepper (FEB)
EmoPunkRawker (Feb)
EmoPunk
emocoustic
StarsAreEmo (April)

I feel like my parents must have when "hippie", "groovy", "far out" and "grok" hit back in the sixties. But I have to ask. What in the world is "Emo"? It sounds like a Sesame Street character.

Are you bringing your light saber to the movie? ;)

Hey, I'm glad you wrote about motivation because I really want to know what other people think. I recognize myself in much of what you wrote. ;)

Hey guess what? This is what numerology says about your (real) name...

4 - Astrologically, it refers to Uranus and takes on the powers of that planet.

    About Fours:
Postive Aspects: Hard working, industrious, agile, keeps the long-run in mind, logical.
Negative Aspects: Stick-in-the-mud, repetitious, dull, unimaginative.
Careers: Financial investor, financial advisor, executive, craftsman, factory worker.

hmmmmm, perhaps i'm the devilish half of this same entity we are. i don't often care what people think of me--i just want to be left aloooooone. i like to dream and play without boundaries and constraints. i seek to do no harm to others and wish the same in return. like yourself, i much rather give than receive. i like to help people and animals in physical need, but i'd like to touch them cerebrally even more.

i try not to make demands of others, but i've been told i ask a lot (didn't pry further. didn't feel like arguing). since i want to be left alone, i leave others alone as much as possible and prefer to be self-sufficient. i guess i indirectly ask a lot of tolerence from others.....kinda like acfh :)

It's a type of punk music...

It's drippy, sad, talks about girlfriends and boyfriends and love...

    Dashboard Confessional=emo music.

Oh, and be glad you didn't end up with Jar Jar Binks... ;-) Imagine that scene.

I'm glad you're back!! :-) I'm going to fully catch up on your entries soon.

Wow you must be excited about Star Wars...so many entries today. LOL We're not going to see it until the 23rd - for hubby's bday...

Loved your entry on motivation. I'll have to check out boo's entry. I can relate to much of what you wrote. I just have to say that I hope you do find the time to write your book. You have a gift! and...I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one that has to be right now and then LOL!

I see alot of myself in your motivation entry, that one really hit home.
Sounds like you have a great weekend lined up, I am envious.
Our feed store in California was directly across from George Lucas's first studio, which previously used as a hair salon. He used to come in our store all the time, but would never sign an autograph. One of the girls that worked for us begged him everytime he came in for one, but to no avail. I used to peer inside the tinted glass on my way to my car after work to see what was going on in there. He was working on the first Star Wars, and had all sorts of mini models set up on mini sets. After I saw Star Wars it all made sense. I used to see him and Linda Ronstadt (SP?) quite often in the grocery store too.

I have wondered about 'emo' as well, I'm glad somebody else is lost with that one as well :D. Now that Firefly mentioned that band, I might download something from them and finally be enlightened.
